Dynamic compression in speakers themselves?
@mtrot Large pro studio (not PA) versions of ATC, PMC, Westlake, JBL, Genelec, Quested and Tannoy are all worth checking out if you seek big open dynamic sound and good vocal and timbre. Any of these makes with at least one 15” woofer would be a g...
DAC break-in...
What nonsense. Break in or forming of dielectric in electrolytic capacitors is only necessary after lengthy storage (many years)http://www.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu/~reese/electrolytics/tec2.pdf
Dynamic compression in speakers themselves?
Dynamic compression is very common above 90 dB SPL in traditional dynamic speakers. Voice coils get extremely hot and resistance rises. Also linear cone excursion can be quite limited. Soundstage won’t even test speakers above 95 dB SPL as most wi...
Jazz for aficionados
@rok2id Oh no - it is very real. The production and recording may be Hollywood. You really hear this stuff on the street in Africa. Nigerian musicians are amazing. I like Rastafarian music too - or nyabinghi which has roots in Africa (Ethiopia) bu...
Best analytical loudspeakers for strings (midrange)?
+1 Harbeth. Also add ATC to your shortlist. ATC are used by Telarc. Also used by jazz artists like Diana Krall as well as film, television and broadcast. Countless Universities and conservatories like Peabody Conservatory use them.

Thanks Helomech. I suspected there were a few more. Yes plastic/polypropylene is intrinsically damped and was popular in the 80’swith Mission. Harbeth mid range cones are even more damped - so it has been taken further than the old Rogers Ls3/5 de...

Thanks Yogiboy! That interview really exposes Alan’s critical realization and understanding about transducer material. Alan really is quite exceptional. I have never owned a Harbeth but I have listened extensively and hear exactly why everyone rav...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
@ps On the contrary, not only does TC fix light bulbs and old TVs but if you apply it appropriately it will cure a bad case of hemorrhoids with additional benefits. It is truly amazing.
DACs and bass response?
Congratulations on fixing your Aqua La Voce! Wonderful that you were finally able to get it to work properly. A pity Aqua couldn’t get their jitter rejection circuits to work as claimed but in truth this seems to be a common problem with many DACs...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
@geoffkait Kite was VP engineering at Audio Precision. The company that makes and sells audio test instruments that manufacturers and Stereophile use. So he was biased towards measurements...but I wouldn’t totally dismiss what he says unless I was...

He is a curious mix of engineering and listening. He designs everything himself and tunes with his ear alone. He dismisses “Rock Speakers” entirely. Definitely quirky as his musings tend to convey. His interest is acoustic and classical at low to ...
Best affordable digital coax cable for connecting transport to re-clocker?
@gdhal The asynchronous clock is an example of jitter rejection. In the case of Benchmark, the incoming clock is digitally separate from the outgoing clock. Adjustments are made digitally at precisely 4 pSec intervals at an adjustment rate of less...

So the Realtor got $300 worth of product to promote (“beta test”) said product. That helps place the “better than an electronics upgrade” testimonials in perspective. That places the Synergistic Fuse threads in a whole new light.
