Dynamic compression in speakers themselves?
@johnk Thermal compression is one problem - affecting small voice coils much more than large ones. Small voice coils are standard for the consumer market because they are so much cheaper and easy to build as tolerances can be as sloppy as you like...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
“After 40 years in the hobby, and a total tweak nut, I have never heard anything that does what this graphene paste does. The see-through clarity at eight weeks becomes simply amazing.”8 weeks before it works fully? Sure and I was born yesterday. ...

Other speakers: Legacy Focus is good value and great performance. Large Focal good also but expensive. Paradigm Persona 9H. B&W 800. Pretty much the top of the line in any of these brands will bring you quite close to pro main monitor - you wi...

A home system based on pro studio main monitors (mentioned above) is going to be very much the same level of immediacy of guitars and drum shots. It is quite easily done. Of course you won’t listen loud like that all day long.
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
”On the 8th week to the day, phone rang and Frank was a very happy camper. The 8th week must be experienced, no amount of words can convey what takes place.”And on the 9th week he saw it was good and rested well satisfied with his work.

MAC Book Pro Computer vs Aurender N100h vs Aurender N10 Music Servers
BIT-Perfect means that properly working equipment and set up should sound the same irrespective of the source of the file. This is a FACT. It is supposed to sound the same as that is the whole point of high-FIDELITY!If it doesn’t sound identical t...
This is for Georgehifi especially but others can chime in.
I assume we are talking about MOSFET transistors on the output stage? Nothing new. Ideal for delivering extremely high current. Extremely high breakdown voltage. Low switching distortion and fail in a nice way (open circuit) which prevents too muc...

@onhwy61 +1Yup, The hyperbole is often extreme. Mere fuses or cleaning your contacts with a special paste is FANTASTIC and KILLS and DESTROYS any speaker or electronics upgrade imaginable at ANY price. Some folks were born with yesterday’s rain, or...
How do I stream the NAXOS Music Library?
If Naxos streams like radio then Roon will handle it for you.Meitner is excellent but Benchmark DAC3 could be an alternative.
Dynamic compression in speakers themselves?
@phusis We agree. My point is mainly about the woofers - big motors and large diameter voice coils tend to stay cool and run more linearly.I agree horns can be great for mid range dynamics. Both horns and dynamic speakers will likely have dynamic ...
Dynamic compression in speakers themselves?
@mtrot No. Extreme high sensitivity is no guarantee of unrestrained dynamics. 91 dB to 94 dB is already plenty of sensitivity. It is the driver design that is important - large voice coil, massive magnet, short coil in long magnetic gap.12 inch wo...

I don’t know about VR55 in particular but VR uses mostly small Voice coils - great speakers but they compress dynamically. Best stick to pro gear if you really want dynamics.+1 roberjerman
