Amp for harder music with lots of sounds.
Most any SS amp with around 150 WPC should be enough. Those small woofers probably can't take a lot more power than that without sounding overly distorted or risking a failure.PMC use Bryston for their active versions...why not go for Bryston...
Music out there with good bass
Soul Vaccination - Tower of Power Live (Good Live bass)Hommage to Duke - Dave Grusin - (entire album has lots of bass)Thriller - Michael Jackson - Billie JeanOh Mercy - Bob Dylan - Man in the Long Black Cold (a lot of texture to the bass here)Anot...
Wilson W/P 5.1 vs B&W N802
I find Wilson more harmonic sounding in the bass than B&W. I would call the B&W more accurate but many prefer the warmer sound of Wilson (as many prefer a tube amp)......so it depends what you like...both are, of course, very good speakers.

Best subwoofer to complement my system.
I'd have to agree with Earflappin. Sub integration for music is not that easy...and very room/speaker placement dependent. Why?...because of all those reflected and standing LF waves from three sources: two speakers and a woofer.I went for a corne...
PMC speakers vs B&W... has anyone compared?
Henryk,It sounds like you have a strong personal dislike of B&W speakers....a bad experience perhaps? I may have messy cables and less than optimum speaker positioning, however, at least I do not bash top quality B&W speakers that are high...
I love my Vandersteen's but . . . . . . . .
Stumpie,If you like "Toys in the Attic" CD then you will be blown away by the SACD. The sound engineer did a fantastic job on the 2002 remaster....unfortunately I don't think their is a CD layer on this SACD.
PMC speakers vs B&W... has anyone compared?
Oops Jkalman this was indeed an old thread, which I did not realize either. BTW I agree with you, B&W 800 series are simply awesome speakers...nobody can fairly say that they are not up there along with the very best in the world. I don't have...
I love my Vandersteen's but . . . . . . . .
Thanks Darkmoebius for the supporting comments, which help to emphasize that a great speaker should be able to play any kind of music well. It sounds like you were impressed with ATC 100 actives even though the Chinese drums might not be something...
PMC speakers vs B&W... has anyone compared?
PMC make great speakers - I read somewhere that Brian May uses them. However, your comparison may not be fair.....the FB1+ is a two way design and this is not nearly as good as a three way design such as the B&W 800 series.Frequency range spec...
Do you know of small speakers that sound ''BIG'' ?
No, never heard anything small that even remotely sounded big....unless it came with a sub woofer
I love my Vandersteen's but . . . . . . . .
Not sure I agree with 02pete about rock music speakers being like a beer mug to beer and jazz speakers being as a crystal wine glass is to fine wine...As far as I am concerned, it is all music and a good speaker should do it all well ...as softly ...
Sub size for 2 channel music in large room
My experience is that LF in small drivers (usually boxed in thin, tall elegant floorstanders) sound boomy and distorted at the low end of the bass response when compared to a very high quality 12" or 15" woofer. A high quality large bass unit requ...
Cables, Cables
Any difference is likely to be inaudible or just barely audible - the huge difference you describe sounds like a problem somewhere (crossed wire giving incorrect phase maybe?).
