Speaker Dimple
Not true in my system. Imaging is spot-on. It would indeed be more subtle than that. The dimple is a weak point that will succumb to flexure. The other issue will be dispersion. Think of how a phase plug or a waveguide changes the off axis respons...

I mostly drive Senoritas (oops this ain't the four word thread - sorry, my bad)

Use a guard of some type or rest your arm against the face of the speaker, hold the vacuum nozzle firmly in both hands and gently move the nozzle toward the dome. Don't get too close or you are going to have difficulty controlling the nozzle I re...
Stewart Copeland, Incredible
I quite agree. Have you heard Murder by Numbers off the Synchronicity album. Awesome stuff. My favorite track off that album. If you like the Police Rock/Reggae style then you will like Wesley Finley of Rebelution - also does great hi-hat work and ...

Used and not so sticky Scotch tape - try something not sticky at all first and gradually work at it using scotch that is newer or stickier until you can just get enough stick to pop it out.Don't start with duct tape or something powerful as you ma...
PC Based Audio - How?
Do some reading - find a DAC that is reknown for jitter rejection and that accepts all the standard digital inputs (AES/EBU, S/PDIF, TOSLINK and now USB) and off you go - start auditioning for the sound style you like (all D to A converters will h...
Usd 4k speaker recommendation pls
There are hundreds of options - what have you used in the past and what are you looking for. If you like vocal then a good midrange is a must. The B&W Nautilus 805 should defintely be on your audition list - I am not a B&W fan but this par...
DACs with word clock output??
Doug,Hey - no problem. You are in contact with an expert and in good hands now. Actually I just tried to chime in simply because nobody was helping you. I don't have personal experience in trying to achieve what you want.
Toslink Cables
I was wondering if these toslink cables require any burn-in and if so, how long ? No burn in is required. If you have a jitter problem then obvioulsy a cable change coudl make an audible difference and it will take some listening time to get fami...
CD players with no or configurable upsampling
What is the advantage of having none? It generally means the designer needs a more expensive sharper brick wall analog filter on the output - this may affect phase in the in band frequencies.
Can TA-E9000ES pre-amp be used with TA-N80ES amp
Sure it can. I am not sure but you may lose the ability to control the on off power to the power amp from the preamp but that is it.
Do newer releases of CD's sound any better?
The newer Rio CD release is extremely good (sounds like I remember the Vinyl did). The Aerosmith Gold three CD box of their first three albums mastered by Doug Sax is awesome (it was originally done for SACD and is now available on CD). The Bob Lu...
DACs with word clock output??
Steve thanks the clock needs to originate close to the D/A. Then this seems to be the prevailing consensus/wisdom for playback these days.
Impdence Question
I tend to agree with Duke - the electrical aspect of wiring up two woofers is not such a big deal. To me the issue is the problem of precise driver matching and the backwave acoustic coupling in the box and the fact that two small woofers with two...

You think great DACs are realtively immune to the transport use? I always naively[?] felt thgat a good DAC should be able to deal with whatever jitter the source might present; maybe we are thereInteresting question - I wonder what experts think?...
