AC/DC Black ice P.S. AC/DC recording quality- miles ahead of the other two AC/DC used ATC for years. Black Ice was done in Vancouver The Warehouse - and the main monitors use ATC midrange. You don't get overly compressed sound from artists like this - you can go...
Sonic difference between 96khz and 192k sampl rate 96 Khz is generally preferred. It would take a lot to explain why but essentially the technology at 192 Khz is pushing it to the point where you may get a slight degradation at this higher sample rate.
"Breathing" of the air There was an audiophile of Peru,Who said play me something quite blue; From his listening chair,He screamed give me air?But his Wife did not have a clue.
Used monitor under$600 with good bass low levels It would make much more sense to design from scratch just buy the drivers that Bolzano use and copy the dimensions as closely as possible (drivers are usually around $50 each) - DIY clones are common enough (more common for classics though). Ever discover cheapo speakers actually sound... Almarg,There is another explanation that works too - if the coloration and distortion from the $240 speakers is subjectively preferred to the much better $10K speakers then you have it. After all, hyper compressed rock/pop music may sound more ple...
Ever discover cheapo speakers actually sound... When I first turned on the inexpensive jbl's, they sounded horrible, but after some time improved tremendously? Ever discover cheapo speakers actually sound... $240 list price speakers - $30K of gear to feed them and it sounds "decent" compared to your regular main expensive speakers.IMHO, this is highlighting that you might have a problem somewhere or elsewhere. This type comparison should really be "Ni...
Disney Digital 3D- Bolt Great story, great soundJohn Lasseter (Pixar fame) uses Gavin Lurssen for mastering. Gavin uses ATC. Sound is also good on Cars, Toy Story and the many others that Gavin did.
Ultimate test of your system image My experience is that the hardest test is to get these 90 degree sounds L and R AND ALSO get a perfect centralized tightly centered vocals from Roger Waters and the woman singing on Track 3. The centered vocals should appear small and natural - no...
benchmark and apogee Do the embedded ATC's give decent imaging and localization of instruments?Jeff,Yes and No. Let me explain. If you mount speakers in a cabinet or wall - it is essential to build a frame around the speakers in order to make a smooth tranistion betwe...
"Breathing" of the air As far as "breathing", in vocals and particularly reed instruments, like sax, my experience leads me towards 2 and 3 inch soft dome mids first These type drivers are well damped and yet extremely light - so you get very little "ringing" or colora...
Benchmark DAC-1, Lavry DA10, Altmann Attraction The posters who say that is not the case have gone to the time, trouble and expense of upgrading cables. You are quite correct I did not go to all this time, trouble and expense. It would also appear to be the case according to a Benchmark Engine...
"Breathing" of the air BTW - added "air" from manipulation of the recording by the playback system or harmonic resonance or reverb etc. can be pleasant too. So more "air" can also be used to describe equipment that adds its own signature to the recording.
"Breathing" of the air It is interesting that Shadorne mentions Air around 7 to 12khz. What about the Air content below 7 khz. There certainly is lot of air moved at low freqs- low, mid and high bass and even lower to mid mids. Indeed. I may be misunderstanding Chris. ...
Benchmark DAC-1, Lavry DA10, Altmann Attraction Shadorne,I've read you condescending posts before. You don't know everything and others have had have had different experiences than yours. Just trying to help. In the past, I have also been fooled into buying expensive items that actually did no... |
