Gallo 3.1 sounds slow and veiled...why?
Or are the Paradigm Active 40's THAT good?!! I think you answered that...at least far better than the Gallos at least for your tastes. If you hear what you see then the Gallos are a work of art and will generate plenty of comments from guests.
Favorite Christmas Music and Movie 2010
Obviously The Nutcracker.Of compositions from composers still alive today my favorite is thisHoward Blake is the composer. I have the sheet music. Awesome stuff. Reminds of Mozart - simple yet sublime.
Dynaudio C1, why so expensive?
They use their own high quality drivers...not cheap mass produced stuff like most others...The quality of Dynaudio drivers can only be appreciated by listening or by opening the box and seeing the relatively large and expensive drive motors...
Great songs and artists who virtually own them?
Rush Powned this Epic - even thirty years on I have never seen three people make so much music - sounds like an orchestral work. Today people use triggers and sequencers to do all that - these guys made all the sound.
"What the HECK were they thinking" Thread.
This guy bubles is an amateur.Check out Robbie
The "great" sound of reel to reel explained
So, the LP that we recorded from may be more accurate, butthe distortion imparted by recording it to tape is morepleasing to our ears, which of course makes us tell othersthat the tape recording is "better".....yes this is well known some people r...
"NEWEST'" Favorite album
Yep Mojo is awesome. If you don't have Tom Petty & the HB's Live Anthology then you know what to buy next
Room EQ to eliminate the BBC dip?
It is not that simple. Your speakers are fairly flat on axis. The BBC dip occurs off axis - with greater dip at greater angles. It comes from using a woofer that is too large for the midrange (a 5 inch or more and running it up to nearly 4 Khz, wh...
Why, one front/one back sub, a double distance?
No double distance. If you sit equidistant from the two (one sub in front and one behind) then you should enter that distance (from you to one of the subs) in your pre/pro. Also make sure the subs are in phase. This will ensure that sound from you...
wilsom MAXX3 or Evolution Acoustics MMThree ?
Bill's advice is very solid. Wilson, like B&W - like 'em or hate 'em - both are a force in the Audiophile Industry and will more likely have service support and better resale value for years to come.
Speakers for Dance music and other
Party speakers for dance music need to be robust. I'd recommend you go for something with pro drivers rather than a Watt Puppy. If you also want fidelity then look into used studio main monitors - Westlake horns, Meyer, PMC, JBL, Genelec and ATC.
How to listen to the good stuff?
Maybe I did not word this correctly. I have two incredible systems in my home right now. Much better than anything I've ever heard at a dealer. That would probably be your room - extensive room acoustic treatments and a large space will always so...
The Hub: Just how bad is it in high end audio?
I suspect that voodoo claims and marketing is much to blame. After all, high end is synonymous with very expensive highly marked up but ordinary wires - how can high end ever expect to be taken seriously. Only cranks are going to buy 3/4 of an inc...
Paradigm Studio 20 v5 vs Vienna Haydn Grand
Not sure I like either but if I has to choose - I'd go for the Paradigm
How to listen to the good stuff?
It is tough. Keep looking and one day you may get it. It hit me in late 1995 - just by hazard I found something that worked. I wasn't even looking but stumbled into a dealer while on a business trip. When you hear it you will know. So keep checkin...
