What does one purchase after owning horns?
Is it just me? I read the title of this thread, "What does one purchase after owning horns?", and thought the owner was looking for alternatives to horns but a speaker that retained many of the great things the OP likes about horns?(and English is...
For all you Clapton fans....
A huge fan here. I like him most when he is being pushed by Steve Ferone (on drums).

Weseixas,I see you are just a troll trying to pick a fight. I will not waste any more time on you. Have a good day.Unsound,I agree entirely. If horns were so very much better than everything else then why are they marginalized to such a small segm...

"Painting with a broad brush Shadorne, not all panel speakers use one panel and suffers from such"All panels use diaphragms that are much larger than is desirable for broad even dispersion of their entire frequency range, small panels reduce the i...

Panel speakers suffer from having a diaphragm that is larger than the wavelengths being reproduced. This results in comb filtering and a highly variable with frequency and an uneven sound field with listener position. This makes them unsuitable fo...

Here is a historyMain MonitorsHorn systems have also improved and modern Westlake's with TAD drivers are amazingly good too as are JBL's or Meyers. My comments here are not to bash horns at all! Just mentioning alternatives - that is all. Although...

I would add that it is advances in technology that allowed conventional drivers to compete with horns in terms of dynamics: ferrofluid in tweeters, massive voice coils and high powered solid state electronics. In order to compete with horn inheren...

" but only horns have the uncompressed sound that many want and are willing to make sacrifices in other areas to get . "Genelec and ATC replaced horn (Altec604, Westlake, etc) main monitors in high-end recording studios starting in the mid 80's. M...
Bass Trap help
Acoustic panels have very little effect below 100Hz a few dB is about all you can expect. Meanwhile room modes can easily be 15 dB or more. Straddle the panels across the corners. However you should hear a big improvement in the lower midrange.

Large active ATC's or PMC's used will do the trick of integrating bass and sounding dynamic and articulate like horns.
Is it possible to get Hi-end sound ??
An insult to musicians everywhere. Remember the 10,000 hour rule. Absolutely. It takes about 4000 hours practice to achieve complete proficiency. About twice that to be considered "Good" by your peers. And 10,000+ to become elite. In terms of time...
Disappointing Evening
Except if it is too loud you cannot converse with the guests so that does not work. If you can converse then it is just background music, For a jaw-dropping five minute demo it needs to be a lot more dynamic than people have ever heard from a hom...
Disappointing Evening
Good quality sound is readily available everywhere at low volume levels.People need to get over the fact that the entire industry has caught up with the 60's audiophile crowd (who at that time had a huge advantage over everyone else). Today, I get...
Anybody find themselves revisiting old threads?
Many are deleted or unavailable. This site goes in circles. Balanced, XLR, RCA, passive, active, damping factor etc just repeat endlessly in repeated threads.
Sound blead through on LP
Yeah analog has some serious issues. This problem is easily audible between tracs but the fact is that "bleed" occurs all the time - right through an entire album (or analog tape). Although, to be fair digital, has its share of issues too.
