DIY Power Cables Instead of Used
@williewonka Good news!  Thanks Steve.  The double helix design is definitely going to happen in my system, amongst other items.  I plan to try multiples across components and play with it all.  Still tinkering with the thought process though, bef...

@williewonka Awesome stuff Steve!  Thank you. The fact that you and many such as yourself, take so much time out here to share your knowledge is such a great benefit to others such as myself... truly endearing of the hobby. I've encountered the fl...
DIY Power Cables Instead of Used
@soma70 Indeed the DHL Power Plus 12 and the Red Wave are very high on my short list. Thank you for the reinforcement of personal experience!  Could you tell me a little of what kind of power cord you replaced, or what equipment you placed the Po...
DIY Power Cables Instead of Used
@boxer12Thank you for the input. Indeed Furutech connectors are hi on the list, with a direct comparison to Sonarquest pending. VH Audio keeps popping up on my radar...they seem to be the only US supplier remaining that has stock of the limited ed...
Bi-amp through receiver vs pre out to 2 channel for fronts
Hi Craigert. You are definitely getting the bottom side of your receiver, unfortunately.  The receiver will only have one transformer feeding all channels within it.  They tend to be quite small, intended to drive other smaller surround sound speak...

@elizabeth  I was looking at that stuff a few weeks back thinking of buying some as a present for one of my brothers for Christmas (before this discussion of the VERY affordable DIY configuration, ofcourse). I enjoy upgrading his stereo every yea...
DIY Power Cables Instead of Used
Steve, et all … I've now looked at the link Steve provided, and recall reading that exact post in the past, perhaps 2 years ago (?).  It is very much what I had in mind for DIY configuration, but not nearly as advanced as the detail provided there...
DIY Power Cables Instead of Used
Hi Steve.   I recall bumping into a discussion on that quite some time ago, and being curious...perhaps 2 years ago.    I also recall seeing Elizabeth present instructions on that with great detail out here on other posts, also some time ago.  At ...
Can you use 4 cables from SS amp to speakers?
PS  the user manual for your speakers should detail  the proper manner to connect your bi-wire configuration.
Can you use 4 cables from SS amp to speakers?
Absolutely you can, and should.  That is referred to as "bi-wire".  Ohm rating is not an issue if you are using the same cable on both feeds … best applied you should use the same wire for both connections and remove the speaker manufacturers prov...
Am I hearing things?
PS...somehow missed your statement that you ran the new dedicated line "alongside" a prior dedicated line...sorry...but:   if the wires are alongside each other, and power is being fed by both at the same time, guess what?  Their magnetic fields a...
Am I hearing things?
So here is the potential issue, which is three fold:1) While your prior line was not dedicated, per se, it may have been dedicated uninitentially. If almost nothing other than a few light bulbs were utilizing that line, then it was virtually a ded...
Help! Power question
That is interesting now that I understand it was a replacement and not a first time install. Hmmm ... it has to be the new unit simply has a much higher initial current draw to get going than the old one did.  Yet, everything we all stated still a...
Class D Audio
ClearlyNotThinking makes a habit of running around AudiogoN with anger issues that he makes everyone elses issues, spoiling the environment for all.  Since we are not moderators, but would like to enjoy one anothers convo and input without malicio...
Help! Power question
PPS...  I mistook your "surge protector" for "power conditioner"... that in mind, a surge protector only protects your equipment for HI power spikes by cutting them off....it can not effect low power dips.
