Who is a big high end cable manufacturer
A much more interesting question is how many high-end companies make $10M revenue from cable sales ONLY ?!I think if you want to define a "big" company then you'll have to ask more about how they run the daily business, i.e. do they have an HR dep...
Stupid Question-What's the best way to choose?
"What does one do if they know they love the sound they've chosen?"In one word: NOTHING!!!
When is digital going to get the soul of music?
"Now THAT could be interesting for you both!"Almost "you three"...I was supposed to be in Fremont area tomorrow but things didn't work out. I'll be interested in hearing any commencts, of course. And yes, "serus" moniker is Ori from Oritek, before ...
When is digital going to get the soul of music?
Tvad: "Mmakshak" is a paying customer. I often invite local customers over to listen and compare their cables to mine. I appreciate a word of mouth, but I don't ask anybody to post anything. In this particular case, to post a lot...If you ever get...
Long ICs - A'gon versus Audiocircle
You may use a Zobel on short speaker cables too. In theory it is a circuit that only terminates RF energy, way above 20 KHz.Nsgarch: I don't agree with the argument about damping factor with tube amps. Most of these amps have a high output impedan...
Long ICs - A'gon versus Audiocircle
Tony, it depends on the output impedance of the source. You will have roll-off issues only with high impedance output drivers. There are other issues with long wires, which have mainly to do with noise pickup, as you know... The noise issues are mu...
Ideas for short interconnects.
If it's a permanent connection, why not just open the box and connect the wires internally in the shortest path possible?Otherwise, for very short distances with grounded external barrels (of the jacks) there is no major difference between jumpers...
How far for Interconnects??
70 ft distance would be at least 1000pF capacitance and in the average case maybe double that. You need a buffer stage to drive that much capacitance and a well shielded cable.Your best bet is a wireless link IMO.
is it time to tara down
Sit at your listening position and have someone move the mirror close to the side wall until you see one of the speakers. That's a spot of first reflection. Try now putting an acoustic absorbant on that spot on the wall and listen again.Since you ...
is it time to tara down
First reflection is likely from the side walls, which I can't see clearly in the picture. You can "see" the first reflection with... a mirror... From the listening position, the mirror will reflect one of the speakers and what's a straight line for...
is it time to tara down
It's funny that people comment on the small table and not about the bare walls. I doubt that you want to cover the whole wall with acoustic material, but some fabric decor (for high WAF!) in strategic places might do some good for mid and treble e...
a great take on big$ cables
Pabelson: You're ignoring all the cases where people have claimed to hear differencesDid I at any time claim that these "people" are right?!Let's be very clear about this: I'm only responsible for my own observations or claims and have no desire t...
a great take on big$ cables
Pabelson:But I do know why it sounds different. No, you mean you ASSUME. Based on what? Absolute self-appointed authority? It sounds different because you don't even bother to level-match before you do comparisons. Or it "sounds" different because y...
a great take on big$ cables
Pabelson:Just because you don't know the science doesn't mean the science doesn't existThen we finally agree! You and I don't know why it sounds different. That doesn't mean it sounds the same, only that we haven't reached that level of analysis o...
a great take on big$ cables
Someone should make a little $100 box that implements a tunable band-pass filter to put in the interconnect lines. I bet that you could make such a box with some knobs that would let you make your interconnect sound like "silver" or "copper" or "q...
