Negative Feedback a deal killer?
From what I gather it depends a whole lot on what speakers you're gonna use with the amp. That, and if you like distortion :)I always loved the look of those Unison amps.
Blind Shoot-out in San Diego -- 5 CD Players
Sabai - My point was that these guys ran the test, however unscientific and however flawed, and posted their impressions. They have no obligation to anyone to do better than that. We must take the OP for what it's worth to us.The reason I posted i...
For crying out loud
>>10-17-10: Tiggerfc>>"Is this something inherent in the circuit topology? Is this something that could be avoided but it was easier to design the PCB with the display in-line with other circuits so they added, yet, another switch that...
Blind Shoot-out in San Diego -- 5 CD Players
Sabai - I thought the OP was very informative. If you run out and buy the APL blindly based on the SD Shootout, then oh well I hope it works out for you. But I would expect that most would take it for what it's worth - The APL was preferred by tho...
Playing the wifes music choices
Bander, Chad - It's not that I won't show her, it's that she has no interest. The only time she's in the room is for about 1 hour Sunday mornings while we have coffee because I make her. I play mellow stuff because she tolerates that easier. My tee...
Choosing between ATC or Emerald Physics
10-14-10: Budt"You stated "the system sounds very, very good". So why in the world would you change anything? This simply doesn't make any sense."Huh??Makes perfect sense to me.
Tweaks I'd like to see . . .
I would love to see a break-in CD for new room treatments. It takes so long before they start to sound good otherwise.
best position of components in relation to spkers?
OK, I did it (I said I would a couple of days ago).Actually, it's bad timing for me to do this since I just got new speakers a couple of weeks ago, and I got GIK products yesterday. But I did listen for 3 or 4 hours yesterday with the same setup t...
Single driver point source speakers vs. the world?
Texas - I agree it could be your situation (room, amp), or it could be you just don't like them.My room is small @ 12' x 13' x 9' and I've had other bigger speakers in there (the KHorns I bought from you as an example). Now, with a 2A3 SET and the...
Single driver point source speakers vs. the world?
Hope this doesn't stray too far off topic, but that never seems to stop anyone anyway : )I mentioned in an earlier post that I received my first single driver speakers (albeit with a super tweeter) a couple of weeks ago. One of the things that app...
best position of components in relation to spkers?
This surprises me because there's less sound behind the speakers - Assuming no Bipoles or Dipoles, and assuming the speakers are in front of the rack and away from it by a couple of feet.Putting the rack where the music is directed just seems back...
Zu Omen or Tekton Lore
I've never heard either (of course, nobody has heard the Omen yet), but I have a pair of the Tekton Katz Meow. I can say that I am impressed with the build quality, and Eric Alexander seemes like one of the good guys in Audio. He states "Benign 8 ...
Magnepan MMG for low volume
I've never heard MMGs, but I used to own MG12s and MG1.6s. I have always felt that neither played well at low volumes, and needed to be at least fairly loud (80 db??) to start to sound like all the music was there. Take it for what it's worth.
Single driver point source speakers vs. the world?
The Tektons I have are 8" Fostex + Bullet Super tweeter in a 33" H x 12" x 11" bass reflex cabinet.
Single driver point source speakers vs. the world?
Just this past week I received a pair of Tekton Design speakers for a 30 day eval - 8" Fostex ff225 + bullet super tweeter. There is something to be said about this type of speaker, matched to my 2A3 SET. The speakers are spec'd down to 40 HZ (-3d...
