Listening chair suggestions
07-14-13: Sgordon1My solution? The kind of chair you find in the waiting room of a professional office. Four thin legs, a supportive back, andarmrests.I don't know about anyone else, but given the amount of time I listen to music, if I spent it in...
Listening chair suggestions
I had the Ikea chairs and yes, great value and comfy. But my elbows started to hurt after a while because of the wood arm rests. Doesn't seem to be a problem for a couple of friends that also own them.I ended up with Paliser brand "Mellow" chairs....
Humor In Music
I've been watching this thread for weeks, just knowing someone will mention Spinal Tap.That's about as as humorous as it gets
Speakers for low power SET, nearfield, low volume?
My first thought was Omegas as Seikosha mentions, Audio Note, Fritz.I also agree with RW's point about not needing super efficient speakers. I would focus on the tube friendly aspects of the speaker (Impedance vs. phase) more than the sensitivity....

Need advice for 2a3s driver tubes in Melody M845
I was also warned away from JJ due to quality control, which has been my experience in the past with many premature JJ failures.I run the JJ 2A3-40s in a SE 2A3 AMP, and have heard/read nothing negative about their reliability. Other JJ tubes a wh...

I'm not sure you need a DAC. You can connect your TV and your iPOD with RCA connectors to any input on the new integrated or receiver. For subwoofer later, you can connect via the receiver's preamp outs, or if it doesn't have preamp outs then can ...

I like RW's Tekton recommendation. I've had 2 pairs, Lores and Katz Meow and still have the Katz. You get a lot for the money, I think much more than those $1,100 PSBs.http://www.tektondesign.com/Here's a link to some highly rated sub-$1,000 integ...

05-05-13: TatersAt least I'm not dumpster diving for gear or talking about a 6.00 reciever I just bought from the Salvation army. Yes, you are so much better than that. You don't talk shit about $6 receivers, you talk shit about people.
Khorn room size
04-29-13: J_stereoI enjoy the sound of my KHorns in a similar size room. However I built false corners for them using 3/4" plywood so I could change the angle of the speakers.I agree the angle can be an issue.I disconnected the Top Hat (houses the...

I had mine in a 12' x 13' room, good corners. No, it was not big enough. May work for you but I could not make it work, even after the normal tweaks:Crites XOPipe insulation to seal them into the cornersRope calk putty on the horn3-watt SET (plenty...

04-25-13: TatersToday's hot AK topics:My favorite thread on the AK site is Pictures of Cats on Audio Gear. I visit the site and enjoy it, but always thought that thread had to be something else besides what the title suggests. After many months of...

The issue of lowballing... What does that mean?
04-18-13: Polk432The buyer is happy and it was a good deal for the both of us, but according to you, I should have sold it to the lowball bum, like an idiot. Right there's your problem. Nobody in this entire thread mentioned or implied that someon...
