Make sure the belt is new or in good condition. Clean the rim of the subplatter and the pulley with isopropyl alcohol. Then clean the belt in hot soapy water so that it feels sticky to the touch afterwards. If it's a planar 3 with the old motor the...
Moving to New Zealand from USA Now What?????
Again, by analogy with the UK it is common in the UK to find multi-region DVD players, and most any TV that will accept either PAL or NTSC input. Not so in the US where the electronics market is "parochial" and you must pay through the nose for mul...
Moving to New Zealand from USA Now What?????
If NZ is like the UK (which is likely as it's a former colony, and still has close ties, and very similar laws) then there is no import duty on personal posessions, regardless of value. You may have to sign something saying you will not sell your ...
What sub do "U" use ?
REL strata 3. I think they're overpriced new here in the US, but if you get a used one it's like having money in the bank (now that bank accounts don't pay any interest either !)
Moving to New Zealand from USA Now What?????
Take it and buy step down transformers in NZ. They are very inexpensive.
New DAC or player?
The marantz as a transport is limited by quite high levels of jitter on the digital out. I own a CD67SE and when I paired it with a Monarchy 22B DAC I heard virtually no improvement. Then I added a Monarchy DIP and the sound snapped into focus.I l...
tracking distortion on a p5 + rega cartridge?
Did you try unscrewing the RCA connectors to make sure it's not something obvious like a broken connection in the RCA connector itself. I've had that happen to me. I'm lucky enough to have soldering equipment lying around so it was a 2 minute fix.
tracking distortion on a p5 + rega cartridge?
Please post back and let us know what happens in case we ever run into a similar problem.Short of a defective cartridge or tonearm wires I can't think what the problem could be.
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone
Hi Pat,I'm really sorry about the developments. And the car. It sounds cool. I had to sell our cool '73 Corvette (454-4spd) last year because we were moving to live with an elderly (and sick) relative and there's no garage at our new address. Did ...
Rega -Deep Groove Replacement Subplatter
Hi Stefan,I wasn't referring to speed problems in terms of absolute speed, but rather wow. I think the Regas have a wow problem and the only way to solve it may be to go to a more expensive deck with either a better motor controller, or higher mas...
Rega -Deep Groove Replacement Subplatter
There's a couple of reviews on audioasylum.I started a similar thread on another audio board with regard to my P3 and the concensus was that the P3 is engineered to a price point, and the table is difficult to substantially improve without investi...
Naim and Denson amps
Hmmm, shows how subjective it is. I have a B-100 with Green Mountain Audio Europa speakers and if anything the setup is a little on the bright side of neutral. Dark and soft are the very last words I'd use to describe my densen amp. Transparent an...
tracking distortion on a p5 + rega cartridge?
Did you try swapping the RCAs over at the phono preamp inputs to see if the problem is the turntable or the amp ?You could also swap the channels at the cartridge to see if there is a tonearm wiring problem.Alignment / VTA problems have always man...
Lavardin IS Reference or IT - anyone heard?
Try asking at www.pinkfishmedia.net/forum. Many there will be able to compare with Naim/Densen/Dynavector and others.
HELP for Tinnitus
Pbb ... minds only work when they are open. It is good to be skeptical, but you shouldn't deride things unless you have first hand experience. If you think it's nonsense then don't waste your own time and money, but don't try to talk others out of...
