DAC improvements slowing down? Come to think on it - I guess 30 years ago you could have asked the same about Turntables.Turntable improvements/upgrades/tweaks are more prevalent now than at any time in the past.I'm not so sure about that... A SME arm, koetsu cart, and an old ...
Uneven speaker cable lengths? "Cables are reactive components (inductance, capacitance, resistance, plus dielectric and wire variables)"This is true but any change caused by cable length in the above is minor to any variation in crossover components in the speaker.
Directional speaker cables - switching direction The whole directionality thing really digs at me and does damage to our hobby. My suspicion is that it started with pro-audio which has directional cables. They are not directional because the crystalline structure of the copper, or the way the ja...
Directional speaker cables - switching direction Thanks for quoting me... Sure cables can sound different. Crappy ones sound different from good ones. There is no magical synergy with a speaker or amp though. The cables purpose to to move the energy (voltage) from the amp to speaker. It's a simp...
Would vinyl even be invented today? Is taking an analog signal, converting it into a bunch of 1's and 0's that can only exist in cyperspace, and then reassemble the digital bits in an attempt to restore the analog signal as close to the original as possible, so we can then use it to...
Directional speaker cables - switching direction So if energy flows in one direction, which direction does it flow?+ to - or - to + ?
New power cords for Vintage amps Ebm,The MC60 is a pretty low powered amp, so it probably doesn't see much dynamic swing in power it draws during playback.I don't know how you can say the cord will make a difference.I wouldn't modify the amps.
Directional speaker cables - switching direction Anyone want to let me borrow their directional cables?I will gladly run any signal through them and measure the input vs out put on my scope under any load that person wants. I will then run it backwards and we can see what happens.Maybe the quali...
Uneven speaker cable lengths? Depending on the difference in length, maybe? A few feet difference, probably not. I can almost guarantee the variation in the crossover of the speakers, or even on the amp side will be much bigger than a few feet of cable. Some people will disagre...
DAC improvements slowing down? I believe you are familiar with Dr. Kiryu's study jitter detection in humans. His findings were that even trained people could detect less jitter than what the BBC reported.https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/ast/26/1/26_1_50/_pdfWhere are the sc...
DAC improvements slowing down? How are your studies better than the BBC?
DAC improvements slowing down? Mapman,Thank you for the clarification. Your explanation matches my understanding. Based on studies done at the beginning of the development of digital sound reproduction jitter was studied and the threshold of jitter was determined. There are no ...
DAC improvements slowing down? Is low jitter like ultra-sonics? Something people can't here but makes things sound better?
DAC improvements slowing down? better than PBS...
DAC improvements slowing down? I see mentions of jitter. I believe most jitter on modern DACs is around 2ns and the BBC did studies that said people could not distinguish below 50ns of jitter. Can anyone tell me what jitter sounds like? |
