Thinking of taking the plunge.
Larry,  I agree with your dealer that a better DAC will make more difference than say MQA v hi res on Qobuz. But I prefer the full MQA.  It is just my preference.   You really should try for yourself. The guys in Toronto at Audio Excellence Canada...
Thinking of taking the plunge.
Bluesound is the way to go for all the reasons stated. I use the 2i feeding into a NAD c368 which I use as a preamp feeding PSAudio power amp.  I feel the NAD is essential. Anyway a great place to start. And he prefer Tidal MQA but Qobuz is okay. ...
Bluesound Node 2021 DAC - I sold my Denafrips Ares II
I bought a node 2i and it plays into a NAD preamp out to PS Audio S300 amp to Tebrl performas.  If you just run coax or Optical to the preamp usually that does the trick.
Neil Young calls out Tidal
See what I mean.  The MAGA are spouting their political beliefs on a stupid hifi forum.   Fin

I truly hope a moderator deletes this thread.  It has gone into wierd anti vaccine pro Covid territory.
Burn in period
First of all… hearing is subjective so of course the ear can be fooled.   Second of all, wires and electronics do need a period to get warmed up. Electricity flowing through wires is no difference.  Just use your ears and you can hear a differenc...
the cart or the horse?
I do not know those speakers but folks seem to say they are good. That leaves the source and the integrated.  I have the Bluesound and it is very good for the money. So that leaves the amp.   By all accounts Hegel has gorgeous sounding amps but t...
Totally overwhelmed (speakers under $5k)
I would keep it simple if I were you. Revel F206 speakers and NAD C368 amp with Bluesound streamer built in.  Perfect. The sound is good and speakers look great.  You can add an external power amp later but you would be at 5K right out of the box.
Upgrading from soundbar
Try the blue sound power node and the new Sonus faber bookshelf speakers. Or get some JBL monitors for around $500 a worthy place to start.
Replacement for current speakers suggestions
Maybe try the Sf. Warm and rich especially so with your M'tosh amp.  And in my opinion they are the best looking speakers if that means anything.  God bless.
Why is NASCAR suddenly topping the charts?
I don’t know who John Galt is but I know who John of Gaunt was.
Two Cables From One?
In other words, don’t do it.
Combining home theater with two channel
I have been on this same journey. In fact, with Covid etc it has truly saved my life to have something that brings joy.   I switched from a HT mindset to a 2 channel mindset and it has made all the difference in the world.   The two mindsets are t...
HiFi vs MidFi
OP’s very first inquiry a couple of weeks ago is:  “I’ve narrowed down to the Sonus Faber Olympica 3 vs. Focal Kanta 3. Source is McIntosh 8900 integrated amp. I’ve heard the Focals and loved the seamless soundstage and precision. Going to hear th...
Combining HT and Stereo only setup. Recos Please
Wow. This is 15 years ago and the same issues are still in play now in 2021.  I would be so curious to learn how these posters got on in their journey’s.  After all this time, I think less is more and a great 2 Chanel system works well for both HT...
