How smart Elizabeth is, I thought surely within the context of this post, using herself made that quite clear.Guess not .
Pangea 9se, Cullen Crossover or VH Audio Flavor 4
It never ceases to amaze me how lucidly the Delphic Oracle of the Midwest is able to express herself !Small wonder she is the Dean of A-gon commenters. One wonders if she was A. Trollope or J. Austen in another time-warp.
Change the cartridge or phono stage
EL 84 IS better, price of decent EL 84 tubes is not.
Best way to warm up the sound
Try a cheap Grado Black to see if the "Grado Sound" does it for you. A grado Red did it for me as a swap for a came with Ortofon.
Change the cartridge or phono stage
A Morrow PH-4 phono cable from TT to pre did a lot of that for me.

Pangea 9SE is best, but if any bends are involved I'd use VH4. Own both.

Ph, looking forward to that Mapleshade review, be a great service to the A-gon community!Jperry, I've had my eye out for a Sonus Blue for 20 years, it was a jewel. Stonedeaf, looking through my cartridge drawer I see I have a old Shure M97xE, I be...
Speakers 12.5" or shorter, $1K new or used
I've heard the LS 50's a bit and while they might well rock out, IMHO they are way too forward for Classical and Jazz. And I love KEF in general. If there is a better speakers than the minuet for a small room, I never heard it.

Body wears out on cheap ADC carts, glorious as they sound. The worst disaster in Analogue history was the demise of Sonus carts, founded by original ADC people.Stringreen, how can I get in touch with you?
