Review: Star Sound Technology Sistrum SP-4 Audio Rack Stand Hi, in answer to the question about placing a turntable on the top shelf (points, actually) of the Sistrum rack, I do just that with my Linn LP-12. Complete isolation from footfalls, both human and dog. Plus all the improvement in sound that the r...
McIntosh Tuner Alignment If you just get an alignment done at Audio Classics (which I did instead of the Modafferi mods) Richard aligns and cleans it and checks out all the tubes etc. and it "only" costs $300. I went that route instead of the mods and the tuner really tun...
Digital Stylus Force Gauge: Which One?? Thank you, Rshak, I will try contacting him directly. Do you have a website or phone no. or email for him?
A to D to SACD to A: A Natural Progression? I had a bunch of shelves to fit CDs and LPs built into the back wall of my rec room/listening room (click on my "All tube system" under system to see it), which uncluttered my rooms immediately. But I still collect a lot of ordinary redbook CDs an...
Which stands are recommended for ProAC 1SC speaker My stands for the 1SC's are Sound Anchors, heavy, spiked and stable. I use Ensemble cables, both speaker and interconnects. I find nothing bright about the 1SC's in my system, in my system (with ARC CA50 45-watt tube integrated) they sound just li...
Digital Stylus Force Gauge: Which One?? FYI: Since Wally of Wally Tools is just one guy, there is a backorder waitlist of approx. 8 weeks on his stylus force gauges! I just called Music Direct and got this info. Also, as others have noted, the guy at Music Direct uses the Shure $20 scal...
any good tweeks for marantz sa 1 sacd player The only tweak I've done to mine is place it on a Sistrum rack. It sounds wonderful, along with all the other equipment I put there. There are mods available from Reference Audio Mods that I've seen advertised here, but I haven't gone for that exp...
Looking For High Quality Equipment Rack I have owned many many racks and now own the Sistrum 5- shelf (plus Sistrum stands under my floorstanding speakers). You can use the discs under the spiked feet on your hardwood floor, as someone else has pointed out. I think the looks are stunnin...
Purchasing used lps on Audiogon I have bought a number of used albums from audiogon sellers such as Kaleidakol, Albumhead, LPGal, and emil_anghel. I have been extremely pleased with my purchases, none was very expensive, and all of the albums were as represented--excellent to ve...
Jolida, to modify or not... Muralman, what marvelous tubes are you using in your Jolida? I'm thinking of getting one and definitely want to invest in better tubes for it.
Tiny bubbles do not make me happy, Help. But I should say, the bubble was in the black part of my faceplate! I don't know what your C22 looks like. If it's clear, why not a piece of regular clear cellophane tape?
Tiny bubbles do not make me happy, Help. I put a small piece of black electrical tape on the back of the glass, over the bubble, on my MR-67 tuner and can't tell it's there anymore. Or else you can order a new glass faceplate from Audio Classics for about $100.
$2000 CDP for Rock Music???? I would change the pre before I sold the Cal Icon (I am biased because I too have the Icon), which I think is a great-sounding, smooth, non-fatiguing CD player. You can get a similarly sounding, smoother preamp than the one you are using for $2000...
What did he say? Misunderstood lyrics. Phasecorrect, you are as usual, correct about REM. I found a website that had the lyrics to all their songs once, and even translated, the lyrics made no sense at all! Michael Stipe just did a stream of consciousness rant. Sounded good but was unt...
How to handle Clicks and pops When i had my Meridian CD player system (500 transport, 566 DAC, 518 DSP) i would occasionally get the ticks and pops you are describing. I had to power everything down, wait a couple of minutes, then power up again and the problem was gone. If th... |
