Clayton Audio Class A amps. Need amp advice
Frank,Before you drown the baby in the bath water re-read your old praise of the C8s. IMHO, "The grip I want to control that fat, stubborn, internal Kevlar driver is gonna prob cost me my rich, lush, fatty, warm enveloping, 3d sound stage that is ...
Clayton Audio Class A amps. Need amp advice
Frank,You might be missing the significance of Al's last post (and Atmasphere's linked comments) that your cable differences might not be as great in this instance, hence Mogami XLR probably can do the trick at low cost. Trying your adapters won't...
Which Turntable??
If you go for the ELP be prepared to spend extra effort cleaning your LPs. They have trouble tracking even the tiniest dusty bits. I've seen albums cleaned on a Loricraft that won't play properly on the ELP and sound great on the owner's other tur...
System assessment--should I change amps?
Arsh, it seems like there are ten new DACs coming out every month. IMHO, they depreciate like computers(i.e. fast!) more than other audio gear, so value percent of original price ties very much to age. Improvements in processors etc. keep bringing...
amp for vandersteen Quatro maybe vandersteen 5a
AR Tube is what I was going to recommend. Commonly matched together. Cheers,Spencer
System assessment--should I change amps?
Arsh,3 thoughts for your consideration...As a former Trivista DAC owner, I can say confidently that as ZD suggests your digital front end can be greatly improved upon at resonable cost. No area in audio has made such strides since the time of your...
Any experience with Sonus Faber Electa Amator II?
Johnny, your memory is still good! Keef would be proud, ;-) Thanks for that. Cheers,Spencer
Ring Clamps. What do you think?
My VPI ring clamp and center weight take < 10 seconds. The center weight doesn't screw down. There's no worry over proper adjustment. IMHE, bass is tighter and clearer because records are flatter allowing for better tracking. Warped garage sale...
what speakers
Good advice from Unsound! Last thing you want to do is fall in love with a speaker and realize that you just bought incompatible amp(s). Cheers,Spencer
Any experience with Sonus Faber Electa Amator II?
One of my fav monitors of all time. Remember seeing them dealer demoed at a few places with an unusual coax cable that wasn't usually used with speakers. Perhaps someone can fill in my memory gap on that. It wasn't a super expensive cable but had ...
Any comments on Synergistic Research Atmosphere
This product name is confusing. Does Ralph and his amplifier/preamp company have anything to do with product? I sure would be frustrated to see a high end audio product introduced named almost exactly like my company. Any performance issues with t...
Aerial 10t or KEF 107 for "vintage" speaker?
The 10t always impressed me when it was driven well and placed a few feet out from the wall. One concern is that I recall hearing of many instances of the head enclosure cracking and that the material was more susceptible to cracking as it aged, s...
Bricasti M1 DAC vs PS Audio Direct Stream DAC
Fsmithjack, Okay, understood & fair enough. So to your question "Was just wondering if a tube lover would like these amps..."Yes! Having previously owned BAT VK150SEs, Atmasphere MA1s, Dehavilland Aries 845s, Berning ZH270, VTL ST80 and probab...
Vienna Acoustics Listz impressions
Goose, have you heard VA's "The Musik"? Cheers,Spencer
Bricasti M1 DAC vs PS Audio Direct Stream DAC
Fsmithjack, Respectfully suggest you start a new thread on the amp topic rather than hijack this one. FWIW, I own a pair of the Lamm M2.1 hybrids you mention and would be happy to discuss them on another thread or by PM if you prefer. Back to the ...
