How do you listen?
I listen as loud as the room will let me.I got rid of the popcorn ceiling recently as it had some asbestos . I knew it would take the sound down a notch. It will be a challenge to get the room in order.
What are ways to fix speaker dips in my speaker or audio room
Use the short wall, as mentioned. If you're not open to that. Try a few things to that should help regardless. Looks like you have tile floors. Place another rug (long and narrow) along the front wall where your speakers and amps rest...from wall ...
HiFi vs MidFi
To me:Hi Fi is a very relative term. It has been co-opted to mean Hi-End. But it simply means a system that puts a great priority on sound reproduction. That’s all. Like Hi-Performance (Hi-Po) in cars, it can mean a Mustang, a Miata or a Miura (La...
Recommendation for a highly resolving amp
The Don Sachs preamp is probably not your issue. I have this preamp...it's incredible. If you took your friend's system and dropped it in your room, it would probably not sound the same anyway. If the room is wrong, you will get time smear among oth...
Tannoy Stirlings on the way!
@trentmemphisI completely see the wisdom in letting them play in.It's been tough having them slowly break in.  The Don Sachs Model 2 preamp is outstanding...pretty much an end game preamp. And can be customized to a certain extent to play well wit...
Tannoy Stirlings on the way!
Just got Turnberry GRs...have just over 20 hours on them. First hour the sound was polite but slightly congested. The next 10 hours were not so fun: all over the place. At 12 hours, there's a nice balance and great bass but midrange shoutiness is ...
Hardy cartridge
Add a cuing device to your TT. DJ carts were designed for abuse...and sound like it too.Option 2. Place the cart on the record and then start the TT afterward.
The Most Cost Effective Tweak
Speakers on a heavy rug with nothing between them.
Interesting experience with two very different speaker designs
Having the same experience with my new Tannoy Turnberry GRs. I sold my old Salk Songtowers to get them. The Songtowers were pretty amazing top to bottom. Everything sounded wonderful. Great bass... outstanding soundstage. The Tannoys are pretty ama...
Analogue from Digital
@rossb I believe the RIAA curve is only applied during retrieval and not when cutting the record.
Why are there no tube televisions anymore?
New TVs are totally better. But what kinda sucks nowadays is that when the signal is interrupted, the picture is frozen or gone.Where before it would just be fuzzy/snowy...and you still had a bit audio to help you along. You would rarely miss a cr...
Combining home theater with two channel
It was just more enjoyable and less fussy for me to separate the music system from the HT system.Even then, the HT eventually went 2ch. Always felt the sound antics got in the way...was too conspicuous...for me.
If your down on your system…
I'm totally down with my system......Totally.
Tannoy cheviot vs Arden what should I expect from each?
There were no Ardens to audition at Upscale Audio as they are out of stock. But they’ve now been eliminated due to size after I made more room dimension measurements. So I auditioned the Cheviot and Turnberry only. I must say the Cheviot is a beau...
