Integrated Amplifiers - Luxman vs Pass Labs
The X series isn't rich and full lol. I found it very clinical and it had no midrange magic. This is my experience and I don't care what you think sorry.  I know several who feel the same.  It did a lot of things well but the midrange was boring a...
Integrated Amplifiers - Luxman vs Pass Labs
I was just commenting on my experience and another friend who has had the same experience.  I've heard many solid state amps over the years and the X .8 series didn't float my boat.  I'm not bashing Pass because it's a very good company and make g...
Need help choosing Sonus Faber Sonetto V or VIII, what amp?
Nice choices with the Nova and MA352. The Heimdahl will give detailed sound.  I had their power cable using it with a Primaluna integrated. While I appreciated what it did I ultimately sold it because it was too detailed and overall did not care f...

@ddafoe this was my result in my system comparing to other amps I’ve owned or heard. Was I shocked at the results yes I was. The 150.8 came highly recommended but my experience was not very good. The next owner felt the same. I’m not saying it’s a...
Integrated Amplifiers - Luxman vs Pass Labs
My previous ARC REF110 was much more musical.  Hell I'm borrowing a buddies Classe DR9 and it smokes the Pass in the midrange. My current McIntosh MC452 does also.  My preamp is a PL EVO 400 and I changed tubes and even cables but the Pass still w...

I found the .8 series to be very lean. The X150.8 to be exact. No soul to the music at all.  Very powerful and dynamic but thin and edgy with my Olympica iii.

No because there is an issue to begin with and I want to get it resolved.  I did switch the speaker cables for both channels at the amp and the problem follows from the right to the left.  Measured the dB levels using a test tone and there is a 8-...

Integrated Amplifier for Sonus Faber Olympica II
hypersound just found this comparison on audiokarma.    At this level, I do not think you can say definitively one is better than the other. Both are incredible sounding and have their respective strengths and weaknesses. It is more about a diff...
Integrated Amplifier for Sonus Faber Olympica II
The Levinson is restored so no worries but if you want newer then understandable. Have you read reviews for each integrated? What kind of sound do you prefer? Both are different. I wouldn't hesitate for either one as they both are very dependable ...
Why the hate for mcintosh amps?
Definitely agree it should sound good without NOS tubes but if it sounds better with them and they are priced reasonably then why not.  Improved the sound of several preamps and amps replacing the stock tubes.  Primaluna is one example but I won't...
Why the hate for mcintosh amps?
Runwell almost all tube manufacturers use cheaper tubes. Doesn't mean they sound bad but it's known that NOS tubes usually sound better but too expensive for manufacturers to use them. It's all about profit.

@loveallaudio I called Barney Miller and they can't work on it. Actually talked to the service department and he really offered no suggestions other than McIntosh.     Where in Lexington are you?  I'm in Hamburg.
Integrated Amplifier for Sonus Faber Olympica II
Moon is a good choice and so is McIntosh in my opinion.  I have Olympica iii and a McIntosh MC452 and sounds wonderful.  The post above with the Levinson is something to consider also.  Not sure its a good match as I haven't heard both together bu...
