Thoughts on the Supratek Chardonnay Good luck on your pre search. Another pre you should consider is the deHavilland UltraVerve. I'm thrilled with mine. For details on what it did for my system, check my review in the amp/pre review section on Agon.Cheershttp://www.dehavillandhifi.c...
Please recommend a good Tube preamp. deHavilland UltraVerve. Great sound. Great build quality. Great customer service and support. Except for the 6SN7 tube, which can get a bit expensive for NOS, the tubes are cheap to replace.Cheers
Personal speaker evolution Pioneer- stock pair that came with full system- 1985Klipsch Forte'- 1987- still have, still great.Merlin VSM-MM- 2005- I hope to hold onto these as long as the Klipsch. If I do I guess I'll be set until at least 2023.:-)
Art Audio Carissa vs deHavilland 845 tube amps I can't compare the Carissa and the Ios. Room size for Kharma 1.0s, need to downsize... Merlin VSM-MM or MX. The VSM and the 3.2 always seem to be going head to head in threads. If you get to hear both let's us know what you think.Cheers
Why not more on 845 SETs? I listened to many amps, ss and tube when looking for my new amp. I then tried an 845 SET and that was that. I love my 845. It's everything Trelja said. The resolution and dynamics are great. Wonderful 3D full bodied sound. Is it the best? Who kno...

I'm a little stumped You have a great system now. So finding something that will make you pull out the wallet may be a challenge. That Mac/Klipsch sounds pretty good, I'm sure. Good luck.Cheers
Platform for amp As much as I was enjoying my system it got even better when I placed my 845 tube amp on maple with brass cones. The improvements were even more substantial when I did the same with my tube pre. Good luck.Cheers
