Recommend a good DVD Player for McIntosh HT System
The Denon 5910 is tops but expensive. Your best bet probably is a Panasonic s97 or s77. WE are right at the model changeover. There was a macro blocking issue originally with the s97, but current firmware has eliminated that over component and dra...
Need Help Choosing A Subwoofer
The Onix rocket UFW-10 would serve well in your room. You might try corner loading the sub you wind up choosing. You are likely going to have some interesting null/peak challenges in your room.
I want to hear what you have to say bout my HT
Actually, I'd like to hear what YOU have to say about your HT. You are the one who hears and sees it. Also was wondering about distance between mains and imaging. My experince is that HT images differently than music.
Sugden a21 question....
I power two Soliloquy 5.3is with the Sugden integrated AMP. I get up to about 40% on the dial and it fills the house with sound (2100 square feet). My Denon A/V receiver at 70 watts per channel cant even come close. Class A is a whole different ba...
Monitors for great 2 channel, and home theater
Green Mountain Callistos easily best 4jrs for music IMHO. Heard both at CES this year. The others I have not heard.
Totem Forest or Gallo Reference III
I'll vote for the Gallos. Was more impressive at CES 2005 this year. I like those Totem Rainmakers for HT though.
"Commercial" plasma screens the real deal for HT?
Thats pretty much a buy now do not pass go price. I havent seen it that low from authorized resllers ( internet included) but obviously that doesnt include the wall mount or table stand I would suppose.
"Commercial" plasma screens the real deal for HT?
Mine did too. The better solution is to get BNC native connects on one end and RCA on the other. The free apaptors were 50 OHM instead of the optimal 75 ohm. I have 6 in a drawer somewhere.
"Commercial" plasma screens the real deal for HT?
There is a thread about burn in at the top of the plasma forum at avsforum.com. A few things;1. I have had my plasma for over 2 years and I dont see any burn in on my plasma.2. A set is most vulnerable to burn in during the first hundred hours of ...
"Commercial" plasma screens the real deal for HT?
1. ISF calibration does not always produce the "best" results. The above post is correct in that a set can be tweaked to "ISF School" perfection, which an individual isnt going to hit exactly. One of the threads on avsforum discusses this in detai...
"Commercial" plasma screens the real deal for HT?
The Commercial plasmas tend to have two main differences; Coating; FCC Class A so silver coating is OK. Consumer requires FCC Class B, so a different coating material is used to decrease emissions through the front glass.Commercial plasmas tend to...
how do you determine what to upgrade next?
Wow lots of good advice here. In order of importance to me;1. Spend time picking up some great music.2. Do the cheapee sound treatments for bass.3. Then try to improve your weakest link. What that is for you...I am not sure. I think the amp and th...
Which high-end receiver?
Thats a very strong recommendation and I am considering this Arcam as well. However, I have read that it has had some buzzing type problems. Any thoughts on that?
Blu-Ray and HD DVD
I throw my bet on a combined product solution. Either the players...or...the discs.AT CES I thought HD-DVD had the more impressive marketing roll out and the product was excellent. Several HD-DVD player prototypes were out for viewing as was a dem...
Speaker upgrade help needed: 4500$ used
Silverline Sonata 3 used if you can find them. I listened to them at CES 2005 and they were AWESOME.The list was around 7000 if I remember correctly. They were ahead of the VS 4Jr, Usher 6311, Gallo Ref 3s, Green Mountain Callistos and a host of o...
