To repair a Subwoofer I wouldn't use silicone but an acrylic caulking would be fine.
Why would you run video through a processor? The answer involves more than video. HDMI is the preferred method for SACD, DVDA, DTS-HD, and all other formats if it can be used. Some processors actually improve the video depending on the source and the ability of the processor.
krell FPB300 or jeff rowland model 7 The Rowland amp is an old design. It's very warm sounding and a nice amp but should probably be updated with new caps. The Krell is quite good. If it is a "C" or "CX" it is pretty current.
Can I replace/repair a Phillips SACD transport? Phillips drives are crappy. The drives were used in many supposed hi-end players such as Krell, Audio Research, Mark Levinson, BAT etc. I would avoid anything that uses one. That being said you may find one on eBay. There's usually a few on there ...
Why would you run video through a processor? Kenny is correct. In addition you only have to use one input on your TV. Which means one long cable run, you never have to change inputs on the TV(change inputs on processor and TV displays source)It makes the system much easier to use especially ...
How to go from RCA to XLR? Jolly good. Thanks.
How to go from RCA to XLR? I don't see why I would need an input transformer Al.
How to go from RCA to XLR? Thanks Atmas. But why can't I use one channel of the amp for the positive input and the other for the negative of an XLR to convert the amp to balanced? I would use the chassis for ground.

How to go from RCA to XLR? OK. Thanks.
How to go from RCA to XLR? If as I think the amps are bridged, what happens to the channel that isn't available when using the RCA adapters? It would be half of the amp's power being sent to ground.
How to go from RCA to XLR? I suppose I'll just have to try it.
How to go from RCA to XLR? I have to aquire another amp first. Might take awhile, but thanks for your input.Robt.
How to go from RCA to XLR? I know Al, if it were that easy I wouldn't be asking. The amp is 50 years old. I don't suppose they had much balanced audio equipment then. I hope to get more power and noise rejection by doing it in a balanced configuration. |
