What Cart. for a Infinity Black widow
I will listen to the V15 again and keep one in my system. As for my equipment, I mentioned it only because of Dopo or Doper or whatever his name is wanted to imply that it was inferior, to which it is compared to some stuff out there. But it is ve...
What Cart. for a Infinity Black widow
I use an SME sourced Oracle 345 arm and a Micro Seiki 1500 with vacuum platter and air bearing, a Linn Sondek, a Technics SP 10MK-11 and MK-111 and Teac TN-400 pro TT with magnafloat platter. I have various tonearms including a Linn, a Grace 707, ...
How badly does price drop for RIP manufacturer?
Sansui is still in business although they keep a low profile in the US. There used classic products are still well thought of and garner respectible resell prices. Since Platinum went out of business it has become difficult to find replacement par...
What Cart. for a Infinity Black widow
I can't believe anyone would prefer an MM over a good low output MC. Of course you must have a phono stage capable of driving a low output cartridge but there is no comparison. My Madrigal Carnegie is very old but simply makes the Shure V15 sound ...
What Cart. for a Infinity Black widow
I sell the Shure cartridge and own a V15 and it is a fine cartridge but, it sounds mechanical compared to the old Carnegie moving coil that I use for most of my listening.
Bass Question - should LP range be so different?
LPs have the bass rolled off and the highs extended so all the musical content can be placed on a 33.3RPM record. The RIAA EQ curve that is built in to a phono preamp restores the bass and reduces the treble to normal. LPs can and often do sound b...

Sorry, I meant Rubycon by Tangerine Dream in response to Duanegoosen's thread.
Krell KSA 200B and Musical fidelity F22????
You could get a meter and check for DC leakage from the preamp before connecting it to the amp. You should only need the coupling capacitors if there is any leakage.

I have Rubicon on SACD.
Need a step up transformer and DC power supply
I would try Origin Live for the DC transformer and Jensen Transformers for the step-up device. Jensen makes moving coil tranformers for Audio Research and balancing transformers for Rowland Research as well as many others. They will sell direct to...
Loss of digital signal...help
It is probably because not all TV programing has digital sound. In other words most commercials have analog sound and some other programming. When you are changing channels slowly, the preamp has more time to see there is no digital signal and los...

No, not the shoe treatment for TD. It must not be the Virgin stuff.
Krell amplifier with Hales speakers?
I would try to go with a newer Krell amp. The sound is greatly improved with the FPB series. I had a pair of the KMA 100s years ago and they had loud cooling fans. Try at least for a KSA 100s.

I like the old stuff even more than I used to since I started hearing the new stuff.
preamp or no? if so, which one?
You only need a preamp if you can't get enough gain or dynamics without one. Most CD players have about 2 volts of output which is fine most of the time. But if you want to rock, you may need more. And of course, you need volume control and maybe ...
