Quandary Wow! With all the negative commentsI’m probably going to “pass” on the demonstration.
Quandary In all fairness, it is almost a 100lb. amp that they’ll have to cart over, install, and return back to the store. But $300 is a little absurd! BTW, it’s not the salesman, but his boss, the owner, who determined that fee.

Sometimes you just get lucky For some reason, I never bought the hype of CDs when they were introduced. I always felt with my Rega Planar 3 turntable that records sounded better. So, although I bought a ton of CDs, I kept all my records. Today, on my good vinyl rig they st...
Want to add vinyl to my system. It took a while, but I finally revamped my analog side to at least equal the digital side. With an expense of about $8000, I got a very decent sounding rig. Since I have about two thousand records it was worth the expense.
Surge protector That’s what I’m doing.
Classical Music for Aficionados @mahler123 Sorry for the delay in answering. Just rediscovered the thread. Yes there is a big difference with two subwoofers. The sound is much fuller.
Listening Room Several years ago I built a special room added to my house for the purpose of giving lectures on classical music. I built it to acoustic principles so it would also serve as a listening room. I’ve not had the need for further treatments.
When Was The Audio Golden Age? I agree with @sudnh and others who have referenced the 50’s and early 60’s as the golden age of sound recording, especially in classical music. Tube equipment and mini miking led to the warmth and incredible sound staging that is only beginning to...
Mood A trap that we fall into is thinking a bad sounding track is the fault of our system. Accept the fact that there are bad sounding sources and that not all sources are created equal.
Is there anything other than a Benchmark DAC? I mate my DAC3B with the Benchmark AHB2 amp and a Conrad_Johnson tube preamp. Sound is smooth as silk and finely detailed. No screeching highs, which I could never put up with.
Surge protector GoldenEar simply said it was under warranty and promptly sent me a new one. Fantastic speaker and company.
Surge protector I got a new complimentary amp from GoldenEar and had it installed in the speaker. I’ve decided not to worry about a new surge. It was the first one I had in my house in the 50 years I’ve lived here. I’m keeping the speakers plugged into the wall.
Mood +2 @baylinor | |
Mood In general, I really like the way my speakers sound the way they are. My friend who has the same speakers listens near field. They don’t sound nearly as good. It’s just those times when I hear a bad recording and it sets me off into critical m... |
