conrad johnson GAT vs ACT 2 series 2
Lloydelee someone was recently selling a GAT for $8K and I really wanted it badly but having lost about 20% to 25% of my retirement fund in the last 2 years I really couldn’t justify it to my wife.  That said, maybe you can answer a question for m...
New Hana Blue cartridge?
Vintage SOTA Star with rega rb2000 arm.  Currently using a Grado Reference wood body cartridge.
New Hana Blue cartridge?
at this point I pretty mucI narrowed my search down to 2 (Unami Blue and Ortofon Cadenza Bronze) and I’m leaning towards the blue.  Fortunately there is a dealer nearby that Carries both.  Need to know which will be a better match for my arm and t...
Are audiophiles still out of their minds?
Dracule:  you make too much sense to be on this site.  Have any of these ”enlightened” audiophiles ever reflected on why there are literally hundreds of cable manufacturers, or why some nay-sayers like Jason Bourne have been tarred and feathered o...
Cartridge Advice Please
Currently I’m using a Grado Reference on the rb2000.  The rb2000 is mounted to a SOTA star table.  Honestly, I don’t think you can go wrong with either of the three cartridges mentioned above.  It’s just a matter of synergy.
Cartridge Advice Please
I have a rega rb2000 (similar to the rb3000) and I have the two cartridges Kennyc noted on my short list.  Also intrigued by the new AT art 20.
Audio people you've had contact with that proved to be good people.
Mile Nestorovic (RIP):  seemed like a good guy when I talked to him about a much needed speaker repair.  Mile was a designer for McIntosh during the day before he branched out.
Blue Note Tone Poet Series
Alex:  you noted that most of the blue note tone series you purchased were ok sonically but nothing special.  Would you be willing to share your thoughts on any exceptions?
Try This With Your SS Amp
Secret guy:  You nailed it!  So much for the “unless it glows out it goes” crowd.  I’m wondering if any of the above posters are the same people that criticize Mac lovers for being infatuated with their “big blue meters”?  I don’t see the differen...
Gryphon Diablo 300 vs Vitus RI-101
This is a great thread and is very useful for someone such as myself looking at a 2nd tier SS integrated.  This is a follow up question re. Vitus.  Is it a waste to buy an SIA-025 (Mark 1 or 2) if I’m never going to use the low output class A outp...
The band 'Sparks' on Netflix
1111art:  I thought it was interesting but was somewhat dismayed at the choppiness  of editing (I’m assuming this was a conscious decision of the filmmaker). It seems There is this constant jumping around from one scene to another, every 5 seconds...
Combination streamer and music server…without DAC
Leaning towards the Innuos.  I like the EVO too but when reading reviews I’m seeing something about altering the sound by playing back in a different musical key?  I’ve posted my opinion on the EtherRegen elsewhere but to repeat, in my set-up it n...
You ended up with Ayre, what are your speakers?
I have the same set-up for about 15 years now:  Hales T8 with Ayre V-5xe / K-5xeMP.  i had the K-5xeMP serviced by Ayre and substituted a Conrad Johnson PF-R during the interim and noticed a substantial difference in bass (much more pronounced wit...
Combination streamer and music server…without DAC
8th-note;  I will try your experiment (i will substitute a desktop for laptop for ripping).       One thing I have noticed is that red book playback, at least with my set-up, is superior to streaming with Qobuz.  Just to let everyone know my prese...
Combination streamer and music server…without DAC
Brandon:  I’m newly retired and the Aurender W20SE would account for 1/2 annual of my combined Pension and SS!  I do want to thank everyone for their suggestions.  A lot to mull over..
