Is this Klipsch upgrade worth it?
From what I read people like the Forte very much,  I don't think it would be a big upgrade. LaScala would take you up a giant step.
Crossovers
I used this one.  223xs | dbx Professional Audio
Crossovers
Don't laugh but I use a DBX crossover and I can't hear any issues with it. It's cheap because it's mass produced but it's pro level stuff.
Preamp Opinion
Add some tubes, your system needs a push in that direction. Try the  Rogue RP-1. Other choice might be a used Conrad Johnson.

The album rock years of KNAC Long Beach.

"...KROQ (called KCBA the early days?)..."KPPC, I believe.
The Magnepan line, now and from the past. I am looking for owners experience.
I have experience with MMGs, .7s, 1.6, and 3.6.  I sort of think my MMGs sound better than my .7s. The .7s have more detail but just are not as musical. Stereophile thinks the .7s are class C and the LRS are class B. They might be right.

Can You Hear Me Now
Years ago, I had a pretty good ear. I would not want to be tested for frequency response or repeatability because other factors might influence my results. I'm not a lab animal but on a good day my hearing was very discriminating.
New Klipsch Jubilee, with active crossover.
"...I have to wonder if a 3 way would not have been better..."The whole idea of the Jubilee is to make it a two way system where the top driver goes low enough to blend with the woofer section. It removes the crossover in the critical voice freque...
New Klipsch Jubilee, with active crossover.
"...The 7” compressive (if I heard that right) driver is an interesting design element..."Compression driver. It means the horn has a throat that is smaller than the driver element and the air helps load the driver element keeping distortion low i...
New Klipsch Jubilee, with active crossover.
Lots more to this than what's in the video. I was active on the Klipsch forum when the first Jubilees were being ordered. Many changes since then. I would sure like to read a professional review.
Recommendations for Speakers that can be used close to the rear wall.
Almost all speakers today sound best when pulled out from the wall. You are going to have a big sonic adjustment going from 1.6s Maggies to a box speaker pushed up against the wall. With that in mind, you might look at OHM loudspeakers.
A Record Collection/Moral Conundrum - What Would You Do?
If I was a lawyer, the first question I would ask is how much did you lend him and follow that up with how much do you think his records are worth. Not asking for the numbers to get a total but asking to determine how much liability am I exposing ...
A pitch too High!
"...There is just no way that a phono cartridge should require a VTF that far in excess of its manufacturer’s recommendation..."Depends if your table can track low numbers. Often there is some marketing games because people think a low tracking fo...
