Walker Diamond arm Siddh, I have not yet upgraded but I've heard the new arm in Lloyd's system and there is a new level of clarity and resolution that I had not expected would be possible. Bass is tighter and faster as well. I will make this upgrade in my system at ...

Re-issue vinyl vs. the original pressing Hmmm..., OK, I'll be the contrarian here. I've found over the years that I'm often preferring top quality reissues to originals. No, the reissues don't sound like the originals. But to my ear they often sound more like live instruments and real pe...
Great bass from a linear tracking arm? Yes, excellent bass reproduction is possible with linear tracking arms. The Walker arm certainly delivers in this area. Nsgarch is certainly right about cartridge matching, but design of the arm (e.g., bearing rigidity) has a huge impact.
Impact of Walker Audio Extreme SST Bombaywalla, from what I understand, something like SST is operating with too thin a microscopic layer to "thicken" the pin or bridge gaps, although it may help with the microscopic pits. Lloyd has told me it's all about improving the conductivity...
12" 45 RPM records: What's the story? Eldartford, thank you. I was aware of the cause and that newer formulations were more resistant. I'd never understood that print through was easy to edit out.
12" 45 RPM records: What's the story? If the original source is analogue tape, the tape can have print through that will sound like pre-echo in any subsequent playback media.
Speakers Corner The Russian Recordings Mercury Very odd. You've cleaned them well, I presume? Something decidedly not right and not matching our experience here.
Speakers Corner The Russian Recordings Mercury Thomas, silly question, but did you adjust your VTA from it's setting for the 200 gr Classic pressings? These LPs sound very good here.
Lloyd walker pre-amps I don't own one, but I've listened extensively to both the phono stage and the line stage in Lloyd's own system through various changes in other components over time. As one might expect of Lloyd's work, both are exceptionally resolving and neutra...

Calling all Aesthetix Callisto / Io Owners Exlibris, thanks for your follow-up comment about the Atma-Sphere MP-1 in combination with the Atma-Sphere MA-2 amps. I'm continuing to use my Aestheitx Io Signature with volume controls directly into my MA-2s (just as does Hemisferik). Albert's c...
Amps for Avalon Osiris CAT JL3, Boulder 2060, Dart Hodelrecords, since you may consider Atma-Sphere amps, I thought I'd chime in. The Atma-Sphere MA-2s have no trouble here driving the bottom end of my Avalon Eidolons. They have proven to be a great combination with excellent control, speed and ag... |
