45RPM reissues: are better 180g or 200g?
Ezio, you're very welcome and thanks for your kind comments. The Classic Records 45rpm reissue of the Mercury SR90006 "Scythian Suite" is well worth seeking out and acquiring if you can find it. It and the Stravinsky "Firebird" 45rpm are the best ...
Walker Vortex Vacuum Wand for VPI
Get your Vortex wand now if you're interested in one. I talked with Lloyd today and he told me he's discontinuing the product. It's just taking too much time to build them. So, what's in stock at various retailers now are the last there will be. (...
An. Prod. reissues: 45RPMs vs 33RPM test pressing.
And the cynical among us would additionally say that there now must be hundreds of "test pressings" given how many I see offered for sale over such extended periods of time. As Eziodoc says, "It's crazy.." Keep in mind that real test pressing are ...
45RPM reissues: are better 180g or 200g?
Much debate about this, Eziodoc. When Classic Records started pressing 200g LPs, they had quality control problems because the presses used to manufacture the LPs were designed for up to 180g, not 200g. There apparently were issues with fill rates...
Why are classical solo cello LPs so expensive?
Raul, this is what has been reported to me over the years by two different used classical music dealers from whom I regularly purchase LPs. It also matches what I see in the eBay auctions..
Why are classical solo cello LPs so expensive?

Dlcockrum,Thank you taking the time to share with us the results of your extensive evaluations. This is most interesting, and I find your results consistent with my much less rigorous testing. While I can't speak directly to the Porter Ports, I've...

Phasecorrect, can you be a little more specific about what you're looking for or what kind of music you like? Chamber or orchestral? Twentieth century, nineteenth century, baroque? Any particular composers you like?RCA recorded some of the great a...

Walker Vortex Vacuum Wand for VPI
Sorry to hear, Madfloyd. I'm well over 100 LPs with the new Walker Vortex wand and continue to get much better results with it than I was getting with the stock felt lipped wands (switching between two). A half a dozen friends in the Philadelphia ...
What is your dream turntable?
The Walker Audio Proscenium for us. We still haven't heard anything that would lead us in a different direction..
Why 45RPM's reissues numbered and not numbered?
The first 1000 are numbered. After that, not numbered through the rest of the production run. There's no difference in quality. As with any LP production, the earlier the pressing made from a given stamper, and the earlier the stamper, the better ...
Thoughts on cartridge loading with a SUT.
Welcome, Dave. And thanks for the very informative post, even for a non-user of transformers. Your level of contribution is what makes this a great place to share information and experiences.Regards,
MoFi enzyme based cleaner and pure rinse
Tgb and Chashmal, just a point of clarification if I may. The Walker Audio Prelude Step Three solution is "just" very pure water with no additives (to say it's "just" purified water is to greatly understate the steps taken to create this water). I...
Walker Audio Prelude Record Cleaning Question -
Johnny/42659, I have done careful comparisons on the water used for the rinse step. In my listening comparisons, the UltraPure water made a SIGNIFICANT improvement over standard distilled water (such as readily available from the grocery store or ...
