The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation"
@wizzzard,  another sincere 'thank you' for a very interesting topic and amusing as well (considering the vast array of responses).  Perhaps a topic for another day, regarding LAST (not the STYLAST) as a record 'preservative' in that it claims to...
best SACD player
I'm in complete agreement for a used PS Audio SACD player.  As someone mentioned before: I'd also argue for the importance of the I2S/IIS (HDMI) output on any CD player. (Of course, your DAC will have to have that input.) There is one exception t...
Hidden Gems in Classic Rock Albums
Doobie Brothers - Takin' It To The Streets album:  "For Someone Special"  Great bass lines and sung by the bass player, Tiran Porter, who supposedly never formally learned the bass, just picked it up along the way and played mostly by ear.  Good s...
Warmer class D amps for magnepan?
JJSS49 stated: i haven’t tried them all, by a long shot, but my suggestion would be to try a well designed gan-fet based power amp, rather than typical class d ones using ice purifi or hypex modules Absolutely dead on correct!  My PS Audio M700s ...
Thinking of Magnepan ... finally!
I've read all the posts here and the statement that rings most true is from: secretguy: As a long time Maggie user, I can say that much of what is said about them, at best, exaggerates their supposed "weaknesses". Based on the prices of your oth...
Something other than Harbeth SHL5
Might I suggest Mangepan 3.7i?  As with any speaker, proper setup is mandatory. For the type of music you describe, they are worth a listen.
LOUDEST Concert and Tinnitus
Van Halen, 1984, David Lee Roth was drunk (surprise) and my ears were still ringing the following afternoon.
REL high Level + Class D amp help pls !
I have two REL S510s connected to individual mono block class D amps.  Just take the black wire and secure it to the outside of any RCA connection.  There is no need to put an RCA connector on the black wire, just secure it somehow - bubble gum, e...
Speakers with deep/powerful bass
Used a 25 inch sub for dances for a while.  Could rattle every window in the whatever venue I was in if you let it.  Not intentional, but cracked a plate glass window doing a wedding dance at a Holiday Inn once.  Used a Phase Linear amp on it, hig...
Is the PS audio M1200 D class amp worth buying or should I stick to A/B class mono amps
I've been running PS Audio M700 mono blocks for over 2 years running Mangepan 3.7i's.  Very clean, smooth great sounding amps.  I've never come close to running out of power and I will get on it now and then.  I was using a Bryston amp (250 wpc) p...
Who has heard and can comment on any of these brands??
I heard a pair of Stenheims at AZPONA this past spring (2022) and found them to be one of my favorite rooms at the show, just behind the Magico M6 room.  The Stenheims were in a larger room, and I can't remember the model number, but they were won...

I'm just curious, what model RTR's do you have?
Which pair of speakers changed your Hifi life?
RTR 300D towers.  Back in the late 70's.  Amazing stuff back then.
After the thrill is gone
About 4 years ago I was able to buy Magnepan 3.7i's. I've added a couple of REL subs.  I've heard many brands over the years and unless you're spending 10x the money or more, nothing (IMHO) has come close. Love a good pair of Wilsons, or Magicos, ...
Class D Integrated Amplifier Recommendations.
I too, am using PS Audio M700 mono blocks on a pair of Magnepan 3.7i's.  More than enough power, sounded as good, if not better than the Bryston I was using before.  As someone mentioned earlier, the M1200's are a hybrid class D and have had rave ...
