Recommendations on Christmas Music?? Here are a few traditional style CDs that I choose for top-notch recording qualitiy and performance. Stunning in both those areas, especially when played in a large room. -John Rutter and Cambridge Singers on Collegium Records has 3 blockbusters:...
Class A Coda 15.5 Vitus SS-102 or Gryphon Mephisto The 15.5 puts out 100W Class A with a chassis temperature that is mildly warm, although individual units will vary. They will tweak up the bias higher if you request it, and it will be hot, but you will only gain around 5W of Class A. Unless you n...
Class A Coda 15.5 Vitus SS-102 or Gryphon Mephisto Hi, Goldman: Not sure I can add anything, but my CODA 15.5 gives me everything I want. I have a large room and 4-Ohm speakers, and I still am impressed with everything from simple jazz trios to full-on Wagnerian Symphonies. I use only one stereo a...
Don't you just hate it when--- Oilman- I gotta hand it to ya... you chose the absolute best way to reclaim your MOJO! Hats off!
Plaster Walls Plaster is preferred for its acoustical properties. You did well. Rodman is right. Drywall is a step backward.
Don't you just hate it when--- I can see a new thread appearing..'Don't you hate it when GOD commands you to upgrade?'
Don't you just hate it when--- Well, Oilman, I would say 'you done lost your mojo.' At least for the moment. Do not delay, call Mehran straightaway, and let him know of your plight. Mehran is one of the coolest in the biz. I bet he will take good care of you. Any other path, an...
Stylus cleaner Yes, I am always acutely aware of the risks using ME on every side. Audiofeil reminded us some time ago that alcohol and vinyl just do not mix. I can attest, as I learned that lesson quite well in the late '80s. All my shenanigans now wait until l...
Stylus cleaner My recipe is a combination. Cartridge is ZYX Universe. After playing one side of an LP, I use magic eraser, followed by a few brushes with LAST System Formula 4 Stylus Cleaner. Before dropping the needle on the next side, I apply LAST System Formu...
Any suggestion of preamp for Pass' pwr amp X.5 Big +1 on the Purity. I predict you will be a 'believer' once in your system. Research or experience the sonics, quality and personal touch of the company leadership, and I think you will see. Impedance matching extremely favorable for SS amps. I ...
"Holographic" presentation Yeah, Wolfie, I can't thank you enough for selling me your 'special' amp. I had to quit my job in order to dedicate appropriate time to all the serious comparison sessions I was compelled to hold... A/B, A/C, AD; B/C, B/D, B/E, etc. But this alpha...
Sold speakers you really enjoyed?... But why? Yep, I had some nicely modified Dahlquist DQ-10s back in the early '80s. They did just about everything well (except rock/roll, as I recall). But, man, I just had to have those Quad ESL 63s. So different, so sexy. Yep, the Quads were lovely, espec...
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD I've been tellin' you guys that the Romulus is very damn good! But everyone wants to hear opinions from the guys who post 20 times per day. I don't post often, but I know what I'm hearing!!
Any Recommendations on Custom Speaker Stands? I'll bet Tyler at Tyler Acoustics would build nearly anything you like, and do it at a reasonable price too. Give him a shout.
Romulus CD player-- Try changing tubes if a bit dark. I am very well pleased with the 'profile' of sonics. A bit less dark and tubby now with a bit of sparkle on top. Just right for my system now with different tubes. |
