Best amplifier for klipsch heresy 3 speakers. Many nice choices for speakers that efficient and easy to drive. I'd recommend looking at the FirstWatt line of amps designed by Nelson Pass. I have heard F1-F5 (not all of which will work with your Heresys). For what you are looking for, the F3 m...
Need tube 101 info Hi Last Lemming. I would also recommend familiarizing your self with which tubes do what. In a tube amp, certain parts of the tube layout will alter the sound of the amp more than others.
Multichannel amp- Butler 5150 vs. Lexicon RX7 I am a big fan of the Butler products. A 5150 would be a great way to inject tube sound into a HT system, without the heat and hassle of so many channels of tube sound.
Oppo 95: Burn-in...and Fan Well, if you aren't satisified, maybe the just announced 105 will float your boat. No fan. And a ton of just killer featured.
Phono Preamp on a budget? I got a Dynavector P75 used for around that budget. An excellent phono stage that has Phono Enhancer mode that works well with a low impedance LOMC cart (so I'd recommend getting a 103R for it instead of the 103 to take advantage of this).
Powercord on VPI Turntable & SDS ? I second Stanwal's suggestion to find a PC that you can try out to see for yourself. If there is no local dealer, both Music Direct or Audio Advisor would be good options who have 30 day return policies.
Budget vacuum tube preamp? FYI the generally accepted rule of thumb is that the output impedance of your preamp should be 10x less than the input impedance of your amp.
We can finally email through Audiogon again. How do we do this? I clicked on your name and sadly saw nothing I could click to e-mail you. I have greatly missed that feature
Selling dispute. Please comment. Oh there are amps that need manuals. I'd hate to be a tube amp owner who powers up with no speaker conections made. A manual that reminds me that this is a no-no is a great help.
When to go solid state vs. vacuum? Yes, playing around with the ohm taps on a tube amp can make a difference. My VR-4 Gen II speakers are 7 ohms nominally, but the bass module is 4 ohms. Since bass is so taxing for an amp, switching to the 4 ohm tap produced a much better result. F...
New tubes in Rogue M-180 Monoblocks From what I have read about KT-120s in Rogue amps, the KT120s seem to get pretty universal praise. Note that some Rogue amps need some modification in order to run KT120s. Best to confirm that your Rogue can use these tubes.
Preamps waste of money? My experience with preamps is that at a certain price point an active preamp can get you the level of detail that a passive provides. In my experience, a passive preamp while giving gobs of details also tends to limit dynamics and drive. The "oomp...
Phono Pre-Amp Questions Yes, phono preamps will not have any volume control (with very few exceptions like the PS Audio GCPH, but even that is usually plugged into an AUX (or any non-PHONO) input.
Tube amp for Harbeth compact 7 You might want to add Rogue to that list. The Rogue amps can run with a variety of output tubes, including the EL34. And many are really praising the KT-120 that some Rogues can use. But Line Magnetic also seems to be getting a lot of praise for s...
Best speaker for under 2gs To feel comfortable giving a recommendation I'd need to know a bit more about your space and musical preferences, as well as what aspects of musical reproduction are most important to you. |
