6Moons.com vs. Stereo Times
Through my experience with many of the First Watt amps, I can say that, as wordy and flowery as 6moons can get at time, Srajan does do a very nice job of characterizing these components' sounds and the types of systems that they would work well in...
6Moons.com vs. Stereo Times
I am okay with the length of 6moons reviews. The first few pages give the manufacuters space to talk about their products, and if you aren't interested in those details, easy enough to skip through to the listening impressions. One thing I like ab...
Dynavector 10x5 what is next?
What kind of price range are you looking at? 17D3 or a 20XL would both be good ideas if you like the Dyna sound. They also have different strengths and weaknesses, so I'd go with what best matches your preference. I use a Soundsmith rebuilt XX-2 M...
Low Voltage problem What type PLC use?
Are you sure what you are describing is due to low voltage?
Upgrades to Analog System
Look at Dynavectors or ZYX carts, I'd say both would meet that description.
Fav. recordings that fell flat in a hi-end system
Mcondo, Judging by http://www.dr.loudness-war.info/ the vinyl is less compressed than the CD. Not superb, but seems a clear improvement.
Best 2-way room friendly speakers
Cdc, When properly amplified, the SP Tech Minis are solid at low volumes. This said by an apartment dweller who listens late into the night. Where are you located?
Pass or First Watt
Dave, I am not sure a Pass would move quicker. Pass Labs is well known. But I have sold 3 First Watt amps. None has taken longer than 2 days to sell. They have quite the devoted following, despite their low power and niche applications. Anyway, no...
Pass or First Watt
I am not so sure that the Pass would have better resale value than the FirstWatt amps. Especially not if we are talking about the FirstWatt models that were limited to a production run of only 100 amps (handbuilt by Nelson Pass!).
Best 2-way room friendly speakers
Not sure of the technical reasons why, but my SP Tech Mini speakers with a waveguide and a crossover point of ~800Hz (!) are excellent off axis. I believe that they also have a 4th order crossover, but don't know how or whether this contributes to...
An impression of some phono stages
If you are looking for great low end, see if you can audition an Avid phono pre.
high torque AC motor ugrade or kit
Townshend uses an AC motor for the Rock 7. Maybe contact them about it and their opinions.
Townshend Elite rock questions
I think that the Rock's standard armboard (Rega geometry?) will likely not be able to fit with Moerch without some adjustments. That said, I have a DP6 on my Rock 7 and love the combo. Congrats on grabbing a Rock Elite!
What Sets Price on Turntables?
Some sellers may want a quicker sale than others. And it may also have to do with the amount of feedback and experience the seller has in selling turntables and other audio equipment online. Turntables can be very problematic to ship, especially i...
Pass or First Watt
6moons also has solid coverage of the First Watt line. My experience with a number of First Watt amps leads me to agree with the 6moons reviews. Those reviews very nicely characterize and differentiate the models in the First Watt line.
