Burn in discs vs. music for new speakers
Anyone paying attention will notice; the B139 and 1814 drivers didn’t have a round frame/front suspension.     The Physics of having flat, horizontal, mountings (in most applications), would come into play, regarding sag      But; I never saw any ...
Burn in discs vs. music for new speakers
The above doesn’t include down-firing woofers, such as might be found in a Leslie, or subwoofer system.       I have seen those sag.     Just my own experience (YMMV).        YEP: another 20 yo zombie-thread (as Ralph calls them), resurrected by s...
What has been your costliest mistake in this hobby?
I have, on occasion, sent prime examples (VERY low hours) of tubes from my NOS, backup stash, to AudiogoN members who’ve asked about, "the best" of the 6SN7 and/or 6DJ8/6922 types, to taste for themselves.       A little over 2 1/2 months ago; I s...
Burn in discs vs. music for new speakers
I bought a $69.00 CD/DVD player and this disc, specifically for burning in things: https://www.amazon.com/Cardas-Acoustics-Irrational-Efficacious-Burn/dp/B00OY8UXME       The disc has Pink, Brown and White Noise tracks, that can be played on Repea...
100v,115v versus 230v
"To add further insult to injury, the amount of time your pump runs to circulate the water will also double (compared to a pump in a 220-volt system)."     WRONG!   The typical, dual voltage, AC(single phase) electric motor, when attached to a pum...
I think they're making fun of us...
Cute!    They’re obviously full of themselves.
Where has been your most effective placement for an aftermarket fuse?
@clearthinkder-      "The best cost $500 a pop,....."        Interesting!     What fuse is priced at $500.00, specifically?       Certainly: nothing that’s been mentioned here.      Have I overlooked one?
Where has been your most effective placement for an aftermarket fuse?
@clearthinker -     Your improvement conjecture could potentially prove true, but- Math is not your forte.
Your advice on a good cable
@thyname- "LOL!!! you found a thread from 2001 (almost 19 years ago) to make this post."        Seems: they’ve found a new hobby/habit/compulsion!
Aftermarket fuse for subwoofers?
Forgive George’s lack of self-restraint (OCD).
Aftermarket fuse for subwoofers?
Consider me a major proponent, having experienced the various subtle, but highly enjoyable improvements in reproduction, that fuse experiments/upgrades have made, in my system.      Though I wouldn’t consider doing without them in my main amps, CD...
Fuses and confusion
Your amp’s fuse holders have a screwdriver slot, in the cap (if it’s the typical Sunfire Load Invariant).    Do not try to unscrew them.        As MC stated; push in and turn counter-clockwise, 90 degrees.           I’ve had to replace a few fuse ...
Best 6550 NOS Power Tube for CJ Premier 11a?
I’ve purchased numerous octets of both the Sylvania and GE 6550’s, over the last few decades, from both Upscale and TC Tubes.      Both brands gave me the dynamics, spaciousness and clarity desired.      The GEs were slightly ballsier in the botto...
Is Wife Acceptance Factor (WAF) sexist?
The very thing that makes her rich, will make you poor (so many ways).
Crown D-150A series 2: help
Here’s hoping!      There’s a slightly less fancy AGC fuse holder, on the link that yogiboy posted, for $1.28.        Don’t know about their shipping charges, but- just to see if the thing works...... https://www.parts-express.com/screw-cap-agc-fu...
