Wild anecdote on variables in a listening room / studio (from Darko)
"I wish my ears were this good! It's a wonder so many recordings sound as good as they do (and why many don't).“Everything matters.” So spoke multiple Grammy-Award winning recording engineer Leslie Ann Jones, in between sessions at Skywalker Sou...

I find it patently hilarious, that you’re, "frustrated by all the snake oil out there or things", that you’re convinced have to cost five figures, when you’ve not yet so much as tuned your room.      That means; you’ve not yet even heard, of what ...
"New device puts music in your head — no headphones required"
Not much interest here, either: https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/something-actually-new-innovative-in-audio        The only cable obviated by the Noveto tech, would be for one’s headphones.       Is Musk's system all-in-one (sources, control...
Kenwood KR9600 receiver
+1, on the cable.     If the problem doesn’t manifest, with any source but Phono; it’s not the power supply.     Try cleaning the selector switch, with a good contact spray.      There are a number of caps in the phono section, that could cause an...
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state?
Yep; nice gear.     Just mismatched.    If I were trying to adjust the system, from the preamp end; I’d start with the 12AU7, which will reduce gain by around 60% (compared to 12AT7), in that stage.      No need to spend a lot, just to get an idea...
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state?
You won’t hurt the preamp, by trying a 9 pin, 12 Volt, with lower gain.     ie:https://amptubes.com.au/my-amp-uses#:~:text=You%20can%20interchange%20a%2012AX7,gain%20and%20others%....         You're still going to want the lowest noise tubes pos...
Something Actually New/Innovative, In Audio
Remember the ENIAC?      Fast as technology is progressing, these days; vast improvements are inevitable, IF a market develops.
Why is black so popular for components?
Q) Why is black so popular for components?      A) Opinions matter!                                     You really believe there aren’t marketing professionals, observing the consumer base and analyzing preference data?        https://blog.umetric...
NOS Tung Sol 6550 VS Tung Sol 6550 New Production
@jjss49 -     "schubert ....what do u mean .....Never listen to Sylvania 6550s from the 1950s?"      As for myself; that was the question I answered and (as stated), simply with my take on Schubert’s post.        Just a guess; I’ll bet the OP foun...
Are there any tube amps that don't give off any---
"I don’t think you are ever going to find an amp that runs totally cool.   There is electric flowing through it and that is going to generate at least a little heat"     Correct!      All gain devices will generate heat, while in operation (none a...
Soliciting opinions on the necessity of credit card info when only selling
Paypal’s got my info.     No one else needs it!
Are cable recommendations worth anything?
Some seem to have a great deal of trouble, accepting their own limitation*.               Then, it appears; "Misery loves company" becomes an agenda            (*a variable)
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state?
Q) "So where does one order preamp quality tunes that are quiet?    Is there something I’m not requesting when ordering?"      A) Some tube mongers test their wares for noise (some don’t) and- typically, you must request the best, of those tha...
Are cable recommendations worth anything?
Unless the recommendation is to try upgraded interconnects/PCs/speaker cables/etc, in your system/room, with your own ears and recordings; it’s not worth anything!         The variables are myriad.
