Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
@ram18 - "I have much to learn."      Don’t let anyone snow you.  We’re all (still) on the same curve!                    Have fun!

After all, this hobby is pretty much about experimenting until you get the right combination of ingredients which sounds right to you.       I've always viewed the hobby as an amalgam of science, art and cooking.      The first always depends ...

@ram18 -      Those figures would indicate tube strength/life and the balance between triode sections.      Nothing, regarding noise.       There are various ways to test for microphonics/noise*.     My (personal) favorite procedure simply invol...
Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
@ram18 -      Those are the ones.      The CKR, bottom-gettering and copper rods (at the top), are a dead giveaway.       Be very careful about obtaining tubes rigorously tested/guaranteed for low noise, if they're going in a preamp.

@lowrider57 -      I don’t even remember buying my pair of two hole, t-plate, bottom-gettered, VT-231 Sylvanias, or: ever having listened to them.      Must have been when I was going through that 6SN7 comparison from Chimera Labs, and trying ev...

@ram18 -      Brent Jessee mentions having 40’s, VT-231 Ken-Rads in stock.      I loaned a pair of black glass, to a fellow ’goner, some months ago, "just to try."       Haven’t heard from them since.     Guess they liked ’em!      The bottom-...
6sn7 tubes and Schiit Freya +
According to the Getting Started/Replacing Tubes page of the manual(s):        "Freya(Freya+) accommodates any 6SN7, 6N8S, or 5692 tube type..."               https://schiit.com/public/upload/PDF/freya_manual_1_0.pdf

About Those Outlets...
It's all good and someone's bound to benefit, from something in these threads.    It surprises me: neither mention HOT goes on brass and NEUTRAL, on nickel.    Having that reversed is probably the #1 mistake the beginning DIYer makes.
33rpm vs 45rpm - which is better
So Many variables!      I own half-speed mastered, direct to discs and 45s, that all take me to to the event, as well as the same that don’t.      Much depends on the recording techniques, who did the...
test crossovers or capacitors with frequency sweep
Unless you are very experienced with using measurement mics this is a bad idea.  The variance in results will just drive you nuts.                                                      +1      Typically: manufacturers curve their systems, usin...
Hi-Fi Tuning Fuse Holder
Are components for European style Mains boxes, compatible with those designed for the USA?                                          I don't believe so.      The fuse and holder shown are very similar (DIN rail mount/design-wise) to many I'v...
Why do preamplifiers have so many capacitors?
@jumia-      Actually: what was supposed to be a link to the following Vacuum Tube Valley site and reprints, wasn’t, on the last reference.                                You’ll find some good articles, here: https://web.archive.org/web/2013060...
Why do preamplifiers have so many capacitors?
@jumia-         IF you are sincerely interested; the first few magazines/books/resources mentioned on the following link, are an excellent place to gain such knowledge.          They were great to, "grow up" on and: even decades old, they're sti...
Soundstage and image height, does it exist?
To quote Bobby Owsinksi from The Mastering Engineer's Handbook: The LEDR test is a substitute for about $30,000 to $40,000 worth of test equipment. Stereophile also has an article about it, written in 1989 (!) by Bob Katz: "My system has gre...
