Broad Stage in Santa Monica That would have been a major drive. I wish they'd come to Indianapolis! No venues with that kinda class though.
"Bi-amping" an integrated without another amp? Mr E: Rotel called that position on the "swotch", "A+B". (http://www.rotel.com/content/manuals_archived/ra1060.pdf) It'll work.
"Bi-amping" an integrated without another amp? YES: That would simply be the same as bi-wiring.
which tube amp to try??? I've been using a pair of Cary SLM-100's for a few years now. Out of the gate, they were a very transparent pair, tubed with Sylvania and Winged 'C's. They're rock solid on their bias, easy on tubes, and very easy to mod(should you desire to). I d...
Dynaco ST-70 and 6ohm speakers Mr G- You won't hurt anything, if that's what you're asking.
Dynaco ST-70 and 6ohm speakers The ST-70 was working with the Maggies for me(at the time) because I was using it only above 200Hz. Well- That was with a 6db/oct slope, through a Dahlquist DQLP-1. Solid State on the bottom. I used(and modded) the combo with a variety of speakers...
black touchup paint? Go to your local hobby shop, and pick up some Testors Flat Black enamel in the small bottle(#1149). Apply sparingly, with the tip of a toothpick. That should provide you with a lifetime of touch-ups. Totally non-resonant in the audio bandpass. =8^)
need new ic's Kimber Kable Hero!! They were my intro to the Kimber line, and all have been excellent since. I'm using their KS-1130's now. The Hero is a VERY popular cable. If you don't like it, you won't have any trouble getting your $$ back via re-sale. (http...
Dynaco ST-70 and 6ohm speakers Try them on both taps and see which sounds the most like music to you. That's what I did when I owned my modded ST-70 and Maggies(nominal 6ohm). I chose the 4ohm lead, and then installed Vampire 5 way binding posts(no chassis butchering necessary).
Retro Hi End Trivia Question No prob Mr C!! =8^)
which XLR cables? If both ends of your audio chain(ie: source to pre/pre to amp) are fully balanced/differential in construction: There are obvious gains to be had with regard to noise/RFI/EMI. That's IF your system requires long cables and/or resides in an environ...
Best 6922 for pre If you enjoy a very linear, extended freq. response(without glare or bloat), liquid mids(no coloration) and wide dynamics: The pre-1968 Siemens CCa is the tube for you. The ones manufactured after '68(silver plate under getter support and internal...
Retro Hi End Trivia Question Mr C- One such clamp was the Orsonic Disc Stabilizer(DS-250), which I'm holding in my hand at the moment(black body, silver button and all).
SET owners, need help with Rectifier tube Third on calling Kevin at upscale, and I also agree on the Mullard rectifier(though Kevin has none listed for your amps at the moment). I've found them to affect the most improvement, and last the longest also(Blackburn plant). |
