6SN7 tubes
Some further 6sn7 family info: (http://home.att.net/~chimeraone/6sn7sound.html) That your equipment has those higher voltage tubes installed, does not necessarily indicate that the piece is operating at higher voltages. DO contact the builder, and...
Cary rocket 88 vs dynaco st70
Dave- Like I said: I've owned both amps, and the last ST-70, from stock to rod-rodded(16 years). You won't miss your ST-70, once you've tried the Rocket 88 in triode mode(especially with some NOS inverter/driver tubes).
Cary rocket 88 vs dynaco st70
Calbrs03- The two first ones are power supply filter caps. The other is a resistor.

Microscope for stylus inspection
Dweller- The seller of that album may not have ever cleaned it before playing. Grooves that are worn by styli actually sound more muted than when new, as they've been, more or less, "shaven." Dirt that has been melted into the vinyl by stylus pres...
Cary rocket 88 vs dynaco st70
Output capacitors? What are those? I've owned both amps. Had no noise from either, at all. Over the years I had upgraded the coupling caps, multi-section cap(which could be your issue), and added some capacitance to the B+ supply(plus a few other ...
Why Rhodium?
Willoamp- Read this: (http://www.corrosion-doctors.org/MatSelect/corrgold.htm) Especially the first line, which states that gold is the most NON-REACTIVE of ALL metals.

Amplifer Wattage Question
Here are a couple a simple-to-built LED audio output meter schematics. Easily fast enough to register peaks. They're limited to 10 power levels, and won't give you fine measurements though. (http://freecircuitdiagram.com/2008/09/13/audio-power-met...
Why Rhodium?
Some may consider Rhodium an, "excellent" conductor of electricity, but- to what are they comparing it? Silver's conductivity is 106, Gold's- 65 and platinum is 15 on the Electrical Conductivity chart(copper is considered the reference at 100). Rh...
Tube help
I misunderstood your question, thinking you were seeking a method to affect a repair(on your own). Contact KR, and see what they say: kr.audio@tiscali.cz
Tube help
Try finding some "Gap filling" SuperGlue(cyanoacrylate adhesive). It's thicker than the regular SuperGlue. If you trickle some of that between the base and the envelope, then flash cure it with a shot of Zip Kicker Accelerator(By Pacer), it MAY cu...

retubing and would like to hear input from others
In most ANY amplifier, upgrading the rectifier will provide a most definite improvement in sound. The power supply is providing the voltage/current to your speakers, as modulated(YES- that IS the correct term) by the musical signal. Any improvemen...
