Magnepan 1.7s in a 10x13' dedicated room?
To double the apparent loudness of a system by 2 times(10db) takes 10 times the power. 3db is about a 1.23 times increase in loudness and the increases are not linear, but- logarithmic. (http://www.cs.sfu.ca/~tamaras/digitalAudio/Linear_vs_logarit...

@Linesource & Johnny- You might want to review this paper, regarding Decibels, apparent loudness levels and power requirements: (http://www.gcaudio.com/resources/howtos/voltageloudness.html)

Their catalogs and listening tips are quite amusing. I've found them helpful, when constipated.
Garrard 301/401 audition request
What's the current demand for a table that plays 16 & 78 RPM discs, or with an idler wheel drive? There are obviously those that are fond of these tables, but- too few to motivate any current manufacturers.
1/4'' ding / chip on a glossy black speaker
I've found a black Sharpie very valuable for hiding minor dings/scratches in black finishes too. The tough part, personally(being somewhat obsessive), is forgetting about it afterwards.

Not a problem, Zd! We're both trying to help the OP. Happy listening!

Like I said, "Unless your cabinet is metal: forget about it!" That DOES allow for the possibility of the OP's cabinet being metal. In that case; he would have to have the entire cabinet stripped(sand blasted), as powder coatings cannot be touched ...

Enamels and epoxy paints can be applied to any other type of paint. Most enamels don't sand or rub out as nicely though(too soft). Lacquers have more aggressive thinners that will cause problems, if applied to other paint systems. Power coat? LOL!...

Quicksilver Gold contact enhancer
My Quicksilver has stayed fresh for over six years, thus far. The trick is sealing and keeping the small container airtight, with electrical tape, around it's circumference. I also keep my complete kit in a vacuum seal bag(air removed). These guys...

"How has your listening distance changed?" What I was wondering also. How I'd love to have a room that size again!
Why do MM cartridges amplify more surface noise??
Improperly set(positive) VTA/SRA will accentuate the high freqs and surface noise of phono playback. You might try tweaking there. VTF affects the VTA also, so- play with both. (http://www.gcaudio.com/resources/howtos/cartbasics.html)

Hostility from manufacturers
Personally; I've only been faced with 2nd hand component problems twice. Both surfaced shortly after purchase, one with a TacT RCS 2.2X and the other: an Audio Magic Stealth XXX. When I called the companies, requesting repair estimates, both offer...
Interesting way to wire speakers…???
It takes good copper quite some time to corrode enough to degrade sound, given a nice, tight crimp. The process can even be slowed further, by the use of a contact enhancer(ie: (https://walkeraudio.com/shop/e-sst-sst-extreme-super-silver-treatment...
