What's with BAT?
Here's hoping it helps, somehow.  Happy listening!
What's with BAT?
Hello, slaw- Generally speaking, it seems most that use the term, "musical", are referring to tubes that add warmth to their system. Siemens won’t. The early to mid 60’s, grey shield, internally date coded, CCa is a very neutral/clean tube, with b...
What's with BAT?
That’s what I thought. I was aware of the tube, but- never saw it used, prior to BAT’s VK-D5SE(et al). I’m with you, when it comes to the most excellent 6SN7, but- I don’t believe anyone made a quieter tube than the Siemens CCa(six, in my VK-D5). ...
6922 Tubes!
Hi, geoffkait- "Besides IIRC hydrogen has its risks......"? I’d say you remember correctly, unless one intends to launch a Saturn rocket, or is planning a disaster. =8^) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R7GoRcuDzA)

Hello Ralph- Do you know of anyone, stateside, that actually incorporated the 6H30 in their designs/products, before BAT('98/'99)?
Preamp popping!
@escritorjuan -  Don't know who gave you that advice(amp on first/off last), BUT-  Don't ever take any advice from them again!
What's with BAT?
The Russian 6H30 was actually introduced to the USA by BAT(who has as it’s designer a genuine Russian rocket scientist). The tube is more efficient than the previous 6DJ8/6922, allowing less tubes in circuit, to perform the same job. ie: My VK-D5...
Preamp popping!
Didn't see a reference to your power amp's make or bias system.  If possible, check your bias adjustment.   Personally, I can't think of a way for your pre to cause output tube failures.
Preamp popping!
If you’re saying that the popping has only started recently and you’ve been following the same turn-on sequence as before: Yes- It’s probably a tube issue. If it’s affecting both channels, check the rectifier. If only one channel, the signal tubes...
Tube rolling preamp or power amp gain tubes, which ones (or both)?
Both can greatly affect your presentation, depending on how much cleaner or warmer the new tubes are, compared to the stock ones. Nice thing about your components is you can swap 12AU7s between them, to gauge the differences. The effects will be c...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
Apparently, the shoe fit!  Last thing I need, Dynaquest, is a deaf mom, telling me what to do, listen to, how to comprehend or spend.  Unlike you, I'm capable of allowing another to their ubiquitous(generally vapid), "Last Word".
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
It's amazing how much one can type, without saying anything!   What's a, "snarky" anyway?
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
"OTOH, some pretty good systems, will never be great without the right wire, because some cheerleader convinced them that wire was wire. Just buy what you enjoy, pretty simple."It's MUCH cheaper to worship at the Altar of Mediocrity(don't even hav...

So many wasted keystrokes by the Stereo Review/Julian Hirsch/Dunning-Kruger effect crew.    Any wise man should understand that human senses vary greatly in acuity, recognize their own limitations, but- NOT assume everyone else is thus limited.
Dielectric grease on connection ends
@erik_squires - Easy to do!   Here's a correction for my post: That last link was SUPPOSED to be this one(brain-fart): (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_gap)   Happy listening(and New year)
