MQA is Legit!
"PLACEBO" has to be #1, among Audiogon’s Greatest Hits! "SNAKE OIL" is probably #2.
Fuse upgrade from factory.....
Upgraded fuses have generated a plethora of divergent responses, from those that HAVE ACTUALLY TRIED THEM, regarding their ways of affecting the performance of various components. Of those that HAVE ACTUALLY TRIED THEM(and responded to queries), s...
ST 70 best sounding version?
And I just let my TAS subscription expire, in November. I’d have enjoyed reading that review.
Highest BUILD quality tube amps?
Couldn’t agree more, when it comes to PTP wiring, over PCBs. I’ve been very happy with my Cary amps. Enjoyed a Rocket 88, for a short time. Now(the past ten years), a pair of SLM-100s. Easy and worth the effort to upgrade. Transformer quality is k...
ST 70 best sounding version?
Why not try the newest iteration? http://www.dynaco.com/st70.php Back when I was modding these(1980s), Joe Curcio providing numerous tips that helped me maximize their performance. ie: much more capacitance in the power supply(two 5AR4s wouldn’t h...

"OK- you didn’t damage the tweeter with a 0.1uf cap, but you did with a 33uf cap. The 33 uf cap allows for much lower bandwidth of information through the tweeter, which in most cases only handle a few watts. My surmise is the 33uf cap made for to...

Regarding the woofer’s excursion; That’s what happened, with 1.5 VDC. Infer what you like. I suppose, were I to dig through my shoppe’s old inventory, found a 4 or 5uF cap, and an 8 Ohm resistor, then bought another O-Scope, I could provide more...
Pure TV dialog for tired old ears - no more subtitles for me!
Some Roku remotes have headphone jacks. For those with Roku, buying a so-equipped remote and a budget earbud set, could save some bucks: (https://support.roku.com/article/115002930768-how-do-i-use-headphones-with-my-roku-enhanced-remote-f...) Anot...

My apologies to the OP, for the departure from their basic query.

Conducting an experiment(yesterday) with a Speakerlab W1048P, 10" woofer(two layer, 2", 10mm overhang voice coil, 200W power handling), with only the C cell and 33uF Clarity ESA, produced a pronounced pop, at the moment the battery was connected(i...
capacitores en potencia krell
Your Krell isn't all that old.   Chances are, the power supply caps are still serviceable.  I'd still bring the AC power up slowly, over a couple hours, using a variac, just to make life easy on them.
A thousand audio uses for memory foam. Or maybe just one . . .
If you leave it flat, it won’t do much, but(perhaps) absorb some very high frequencies. If you raise portions into waves, rather than cutting it up, you may be able to use it for absorption/diffusion. ie: If it’s big enough: maybe a couple for you...
Looking for thoughts/opinions on tube seller's response to my question...
I agree with  bsmg.   ie: You might consider contacting the following, regarding the, " 6SN7GT Sylvania, triangular blackplate clearglass, bottom-getter, medium glass envelope, "Bad Boy"type.MATCHED PAIR" tubes that he has listed on this page:  h...
Looking for thoughts/opinions on tube seller's response to my question...
If you want quiet tubes(essential, for a preamp or phono stage), Upscale sells a, "Platinum Grade", available in most of their lines. I’ve never had a noisy tube, that quieted down after burn in. However, I’ve never bought anything but NOS, 1940s,...

Battery anatomy/specs aside, the driver was working, prior to being connected to a 33uF, non-polarized film cap and a C cell. It was reading 6 Ohms(correct nominal, according to the tweeter’s label), before it opened up. Imagine what(perhaps) 80VD...
