Musicians in your living room vs. you in the recording hall?
@viridian - Yes; imaging and sound stage are different, but- related. I don’t believe anyone, to be trying to say that kind of image specificity, is available in every instance/venue. Yet- when in any GOOD halls(not to mention, GOOD SEATING), I’ve...

It's also worthy of note; every great venue, in history, was designed/constructed with reverberation/Sabine effects/ambiance in mind, even before the builders knew what to call it.  Whether good or bad, every room/venue has a sound.    One will he...
Musicians in your living room vs. you in the recording hall?
@prof1- Back when directionality in our hearing was a survival skill, there were no symphony orchestras. Had there been, chances are: they wouldn’t have eaten too many audiophiles then, either. Then again, if an orchestra’s hitting one, with fff o...

@tatyana69- Thank you, for so concise an explanation, of sound stage/sound space. ie: "Backing vocals or whatever coming from a DIFFERENT PLACE IN THE ROOM is ESSENTIAL to add to the DIMENSIONS of the music." That’s exactly what most of us desire(...
What equipment upgrades or tweaks will improve the sound of drums?
How well have you adjusted the crossover, phase/time alignment and levels, between your mains and sub? Are you able to reach realistic levels(ie: have enough dynamic range/power for the room size and liveliness)?

"We developed directionality in our hearing for a reason, and it really works! (At least mine does, at the concert hall)." I guess, back when it was a survival skill: some wouldn’t have.

The recordings I’ve personally done, take me back to the venues, in which they were made. That’s always been my goal, in the home. Long as my system accomplishes that, I know I’m recreating whatever ambient info is contained in my other media, as ...
Plug in preamp while amp is on caused very loud pop on speaker.
Long as all the drivers sound right(are functioning properly), you’ll be fine. Large, damaging transients will typically cause more obvious/audible effects.  An instantaneous, "pop", usually harms nothing(but, one's stress levels).
Crown vs Vidar
OK; so- there's a 5% restocking fee, if you don't like the Vidar.   To even be close, to a fair comparison, you should replace every one of that old Crown's electrolytics, first.     It's got a few.
Crown vs Vidar
The only way the OP will ever know, will be to have an amp, in his home, to compare to that Crown.   I've been trying to picture it, but......Anyway: what's there to lose, by ordering a Vidar?   Doesn't Schitt offer a satisfaction guarantee(I coul...
which car is sitting in your listening room?
Should I have mentioned: the GT in that vid, was a later 427 version(NOT small block)?
which car is sitting in your listening room?
@glupson - "Yugo, in comparison, was roomy, comfortable, and relatively modern."    There’s wasn't much else, that a Yugo was a step up FROM(to end a sentence with a proposition).

@blindjim - Those GTs were small-blocks too AND; some are still out there kicking butt(ie: even in the Quarter): https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=ItLJoKTfWPw What a gorgeous piece of automotive sculpting! "all show and no go? nope. / ....

Far as, "a reset button": https://news.nd.edu/news/walking-through-doorways-causes-forgetting-new-research-shows/ I was happy to have something on which to blame my forgetting-why-I-went-to-the-kitchen, when I read that, years ago. Now I need an e...
