Vintage Crown D 150A II Amp -- How good was it?
Always recommended/installed Crowns, for road gear/live venues. It was virtually impossible to kill them(rugged as they were, in the late 70’s-early 80’s). I never thought the sound came close, to the home audio amps I carried. Nor did my customers.
Arm interconnects choice???
+1 for Synergistic’s cables. I’ve been using their Tricon Analogue, for the past 15+ years, with My Denon 103D, Dynavector 17D3 and Soundsmith Aida. Doubtful- that I could be happier, with another cable(based on a few decades of live music, 2-3 ti...

Then again- if you do happen to get a valve amp, do the above with the input tubes.

Buy a tubed preamp and load it with NOS British tubes(ie: Mullard, Brimar, etc).
Magnepan 1.7 and Klipsch R-120SW
"If anyone has been successful with this combination or any other , would you please share proper settings, crossover, phase and gain?" No one can possibly(correctly) do any of that, without being IN the room, with YOUR system.
Dedicated Circuit
+1, on the same phase(w/o shared appliances or dimmers).
Solar storm 6-12 and 13
Having plastered my sound room’s walls, ceiling and floor, with monster neodymium magnets, hopefully: it’s personal Magnetosphere will protect my electronics from damage(long as everything’s unplugged). The installation only cost my helper three f...
Dealers and exaggerated treble
bigkidz (+1) Speaker systems, in general, are more accurate/transparent than in the past. That means; one’s more likely to be put on notice, of anything that’s strident/bright/screwed up(in any way) upstream(GIGO).

When I had my shoppe(early 80’s) in Winter Park, Fl; a customer wondered how my 10", two-ways might sound, compared to the Boston Acoustics, that a local competitor carried. He wondered if he could borrow a pair to take to their location. Came bac...
An Audiophile is Anyone Who Loves Audio Regardless of Monetary Status. Agree?
@jsautter -    YEP!   All that, "casting" is just a waste of keystrokes. Yet; it can be entertaining.
Swapping capacitors
Those will provide four places(each connector=2), per capacitor, for corrosion to affect your signal.   By shielding from oxygen, soldering eliminates that possibility and attendant loss of fidelity.   It would be SO nice, were there a way make a ...

An Audiophile is Anyone Who Loves Audio Regardless of Monetary Status. Agree?
"Audio", by definition(ie: sound, especially when recorded, transmitted, or reproduced), can include everything/anything, from the first time a soundwave hit an eardrum. As long as you, "love"(phile=suffix), WHATEVER your might be listening to, or...
All the old issues of Stereo Review are online!!
@larryrs- "....hyperbolic"? What was it, that Hirsch, "relied on", besides measurements? His other, "reference"? OH, YEAH: "sounds". Once again(from his pen): " I’ve never listened to live music, but- I have a pretty good idea what it sounds like....
