mono cartridge vs stereo If the Beatles box are your only mono records, I think you can get away with a stereo cart. I was playing Rubber Soul back and fourth with a mono cart and a stereo cart. The mono is definately better, but the stereo came pretty close. Older record...
Audio Additives vs Acoustic Sounds Digital Scale You won't be disappointed Phil. When I became aware of this scale I couldn't wait to get it and it does not disappoint.
Audio Additives vs Acoustic Sounds Digital Scale This is the best scale, IMO. Non magnetic and accurate. They are only sold out of Japan. That is where I ordered mine.http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Cartridge-Digital-scale-ortofon-DS-3-From-JP-/161414514295?pt=US_Record_Player_Turntable_Parts&ha...
record cleaning question The No. 15 is excellent for washing off pressing scum and oily finger prints. It is meant as a prescrub and needs to be rinsed off, not just vacuum off and your done. I use it for my first step and scrub with a brush prior to drying with a micro t...
Why not magnetic tapes in stead of vinyl records? I would rather have them in a more consistent temp/humidity basement than an attic. That said, newer tape like RMG SM 900 is not hygroscopic so can easily handle some humidity unlike the tape of old that can get sticky. I have a few older tapes an...
Graham Phantom Anti-Skate. Is it effective at all? As far as impact, I'm looking for deflection after the record groove is being traced. You need to look at it before, during and after to see if it's consistent with how it looked before dropping on the LP. It takes concentration. Even so, I'm not ...
Graham Phantom Anti-Skate. Is it effective at all? I am not anal about it. I try to use the minimum possible. I also observe the cantilever when it drops on the record to see if it deflects on impact when it starts it's groove travels. Not a perfect method by any means but works for me with the ar...
Why not magnetic tapes in stead of vinyl records? Practical, flexible and easy does not equate to best sound....regards.
Graham Phantom Anti-Skate. Is it effective at all? Hmm, if anti skate is so bad why do tonearm designers include it in their designs ?. I suppose some people don't mind a deflected cantilever and the sonic issues that may result. there could be some arms that can perform w/o anti skate perhaps ? G...
Why not magnetic tapes in stead of vinyl records? But tape is the inherently superior mediumDoug has it right.
Meddle US Orig Pressing....pecking order Get Japan first issue. The sound is sublime. I have UK and I like Japan a bit better. You can get a mint Japan, probably not UK. That could be the reason I like my japan issue a little better.
New $35K pivoting tonearm 06-30-14: LewmJeb, Now please make a cogent argument against wood tonearms, if that is your position. Your arguments by analogy are nonsensical. And if you did not read any of the previous posts, you may not know that Reed, Durand, Schroeder, Pete...
My LED ZEP 2 pressing anything special I have the UK Plum and Orange first issue in NM- condition and RL in EX condition. If I had to pick between the two, even if the same condition, I would keep the UK. Happily I don't have to make that decision. They are both great in their own way.
Led Zep Reissue on vinyl one must realize these tapes already lost HALF of information after over 40 years. analogue mastering is simply no-go or no way for successful release-remaster and so any of further re-issues. classic records reissue to me is very 'down south'. to...
Led Zep Reissue on vinyl This place is a madhouse.....This is true Bill. Hope all is well in TX. |
