For nearfield listening: which of these towers?
Haydns seem good spec-wise, but afraid the Dreamcatchers and Minuets might be slightly too bass shy per their specs.

What about a monitor instead of tower? Something like the Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1? Still, would be nearfield listening at my desk, fairly close to wall, low to medium volumes, and still no sub. Would a monitor be better for this type of listening?

Thank you for posting Schubert. Please forgive my questions, but if you would be so kind to answer ...1. Is your reply based on experience, proclaimed specs, or your knowledge of their physical makeup?2. By "best bass", do you mean deeper, or tight...
What started you on the path to being audionut?
Stumbled into it when had to replace a CD player. Started poking around the 'net and discovered this whole new (to me) crazy world of high-end audio. Been insane about it ever since.
Artists One Should Know
+1. I find Bill to be very interesting and talented. And for me, Jason is captivating. To me, he was a most special kind of artist, able to convey emotions in a most haunting way. For newcomers to Jason Molina I suggest picking up "The Magnolia El...
Do you put as much effort into your Car Audio?
The interiors of my vehicles, Ford F-250 V-10 4x4 and BMW 330ci convertible, are such poor environments for listening, what with exterior and road noise so loud, that I am not tempted to even consider upgrading from stock.
What most important in the sound of your cables?

Thank you Pgawan2b. I've done, some treatments (bass panels behind me, 1st reflection points, floor in front of speakers) and it has helped. Power is the final thing for me to address, thus my questions. Also going to do dedicated lines.

I am wrestling with this issue: I don't have the money to buy an expensive wonder cord. I am trying to determine how to maximize my expenditure. Hypothetically speaking, let's say I had $250. Would it be best for me to spend it all on the best $25...

So Ralph, it sounds to me (and please correct me if I am wrong) that you are saying the connections are by far the most important factor at play. Wire, insulation, etc., is not as important. Correct?

Please do Ralph!

Dick Curless if you like twangy stuff. He has an awesome baritone voice for country type music. Check out his excellent "Traveling Through" release.
