Good monitor speakers for 300B amps.
I have a Will Vincent SE45. At 1.75 watts it's a real flea-power amp! It might work well with my vintage Klipsch Heresy's (100 db sensitivity). These would also be a good choice for a 300B amp (Led Zepellin at 7 watts!).
Matching Speakers to amp
Keep both and put them in separate rooms! Run longer speaker wire to one pair and manually switch from the amp using banana plugs. Both are equally deserving of ownership!
connection advice for Musical Fidelity A5 integrated amp
Recheck all connections. Make sure that there is an antenna (folded dipole) on the tuner. Try again. If still not working I'd suspect the MF A5 (if no sound from both the CD player and tuner). Next step would be to borrow a working integrated amp ...
Advice Please On Turntable Upgrade?
Pioneer PLX1000 ($700). Use the money saved to get a better (mc) cartridge! I own this TT (among the many in my collection) and for the price it is unbeatable! Very favorably reviewed by Herb Reichert in Stereophile!
Floor Speakers Needed after "Remodel"
A used pair of Vandersteen 2's in fine condition would be a good choice!
JBL Lsr305 loud 160hz in some songs
Concrete is your friend!
Great Value in Used Phono Preamp’s?
A nicely modded Dynaco PAS 3 is still competitive with today's pricier gear! I own one made by DKL Labs. Now rare - and a keeper!
Great Value in Used Phono Preamp’s?
Forget the Dynavector P75! Stick to tubes for the authentic musical sound! At the same time I had the C7 I also had the PS Audio PSIII phono stage. After comparing the two, I sold the PSIII. It sounded excellent but up against the cascode tube cir...
Great Value in Used Phono Preamp’s?
Too much money for that particular C7! I have seen them selling for $350 - 500 in very good to excellent condition. Wish I still had mine! Bruce Moore made a phono stage version of his Paragon 12 called the Paragon E. Might be worth pursuing!
SME Tonearm
For more money ($750) one of the low-output Hana MC's would work well in the SME. I have owned that arm. It's a good one!
SME Tonearm
I have the same Empire 208 in my collection! And three other ones! Great TT's! All have the original arms. An easy recommendation is the venerable Denon 103 and 103R. For the money (about $300) can't be beat! A truly fine sounding mc cartridge fro...
Great Value in Used Phono Preamp’s?
Precision Fidelity C7. All tube and designed by Bruce Moore (Paragon, MFA, Audible Illusions). I had one and regrettably sold it!
Space Tech ASX 103 Virtual Subwoofer
Just another equalizer to boost bass frequencies! Allison had one years ago! Nothing new under the sun! And those Audio Note E's are a copy of my Snell Type E's (so much for originallity!).
Possible Upgrade
Too bad you don't have a nice CD collection! I'd recommend a good used player. I prefer that over streaming! With streaming you never know the provenance of the recording (how close to the master source it came from).
Possible Upgrade
Pandora is a low-quality digital source! I'd avoid it and get a subscription to Tidal. And a better DAC (used), of course! Ditch the equalizer and sub. Equalizers just screw-up the phase (time) response. Most music has too little information below...
