carver reciever and power amp
Both were bought from a local GW, so past history unknown. $180 for the Receiver and $25 for the TFM15cb. And last year I bought another Receiver from an eBay seller at a fair price (can't remember!).

I have two of Bob's products from the Carver years. The Receiver and the TFM15cb amp. Both have been put to the test driving my KLH Nines (a difficult load!). And they both passed just fine! In fact, the Receiver proved to be one of the best sound...
What is an acceptable level of transformer hum on a Krell S300i?
This is unacceptable behavior from an expensive amp! The seller should take it back and give you a refund. You need a new transformer! That's the only cure! My 40 year old GAS Son is still in use and remains dead silent (and sounding just fine!).

Almost forgot: get and use a record weight to get a better coupling of the record to the mat!

Get a cork mat and recheck the alignment of the cartridge - particularly the SRA. Also check the tracking force. Give the stylus a good cleaning with a Magic Eraser (use it after every side!). Don't forget that LPs vary widely in SQ!
Fuuga vs Miyajima
Don't spend $9K! Unless you've just made a killing in the stock market! The lower-priced Miyajima's are perfectly fine sounding cartridges!

Need cable to soften brightness just a little?
I leave my SS gear on 24/7! And have done so since the beginning! Why? Because it works best after an hour or two use! After that, who knows! And I've always had good quality wire! My tube gear I turn off after a few hours. No sense wasting tube l...
Need cable to soften brightness just a little?
I have been in this hobby for 42 years! The amount of b.s. that gets thrown around as "knowledge" is appalling! And the people running the medicine shows are sure profiting!

Need cable to soften brightness just a little?
Contrary to popular misbelief wire (IC's, PC's, speaker wire) is NOT a tone control! It has little (if any) effect on the tonality of a system! Component and wire burn-in is just a delusion (no scientific or engineering basis). Mechanical things (...

Brightness (edginess) is inherent in many CD's. Restore your Pioneer receiver to full functionality and use the treble control to adjust the high frequencies to your liking!
