Prima Luna Tube Question
Buy some vintage USA-made tubes: GE, RCA, Sylvania, KenRad, Hytron, National, Tungsol. I prefer these for the 12A*7 and 6S*7 series. Superior quality (lower distortion and longer life) than current Communist production! And I use US made vintage t...
What albums, in your opinion, sound unquestionably better on Vinyl rather than Digital?
I have been using PF's The Wall LPs (UK EMI) as a reference quality source since about 1980. I have on hand the 2011 CD remaster by James Guthrie and Joel Plante at das boot recording. I plan to give this a listen soon! And maybe I can find in my ...
Kenwood KA 8100 phono stage Hook Up Question
Use the tape out jacks on the back to connect to the LS7. The 8100 has a good - not great phono stage. It is acceptable! A better choice would be to sell the Kenwood and LS7 and buy an ARC SP15. It has a superior phono and line stage!
VAC Sigma Preamplifier Front Meter / Thoughts / MC Cartridge
The Hana MC's look interesting! The EL (elliptical stylus) $500 and the SL (Shibata stylus) $750 are both low-output. Might be worth checking out!
VAC Sigma Preamplifier Front Meter / Thoughts / MC Cartridge
Don't run your Denon 110 into the mc input! It will overload that stage! Strictly use the mm input with any high-output mc cartridge! I like and use Denon low-output MC's - 103, 103R, 103D, 103S, 301, 304. All sound fine and are affordable!
Replacing my MFA Luminescence B2 preamp
Another great design from Bruce Moore (Paragon, Precision Fidelity, MFA). I owned the PF C7 tube phono preamp (cascode tube circuitry). I regret selling it!
With Internet radio, (streaming) do AM\FM tuners serve any purpose in HEA?
So if you are within range of a college station you are indeed fortunate!
With Internet radio, (streaming) do AM\FM tuners serve any purpose in HEA?
I have several nice tuners in my collection - including a Scott tube tuner and a McIntosh MR77. Presently listening to NPR "All Things Considered" on 89.7 FM (WUSF Tampa) - using the Diatone (Mitsubishi) DA-F10 (1978). Excellent SQ! This is the on...
Clipping triode or ultralinear
Obviously triode! Careful with that ax, oops, volume control Eugene!
Biasing a valve amp
www.ekoukusaudio.com Here's the web address. Try to get a schematic. Also ask for any service bulletins. I suspect that those Russian or Chinese KT88's are being run too hard. They should be willing to put you in contact with a nearby service cent...
Chinese phono pre
Search for and buy a PS Audio IV preamp. USA-made with external power supply. A superb, quality preamp! I have two of them! Why spend money on Ch*nese stuff?
Requirements for Moving Coil setup
I have a Denon 103 mc in use on a Grace 707 arm. And a 103R on the Pioneer PLX1000's medium-mass arm. Both sound fine! I have yet to try out some of my other mc cartridges on my two heavier Fidelity Research arms - an FR29 and an FR54.

Biasing a valve amp
Find a competent technician that is familiar with tube circuitry and can examine your amp for potential problems. Search for and replace those cheap KT88's with a set of original USA made 6550's (used with 75% emission will do!).
