BOB DYLAN DEBUT LP STEREO ???
I find many early stereo mixes unlistenably artificial and weird. Why are the drums all over there? Where's the middle? Why (as with the Dylan) is the guitarists mouth six feet to the side of his instrument? The mono mixes re way better. But I stil...
Are singers musicians?
What on Earth is the point of asking such a question, and what on Earth makes you suppose there is a "technical" sense of "musician" that determines the answer, or that anyone should care about?
Vinyl Back in Black Review
Sadly, I've been unimpressed with both the Disreli Gears and the Layla and Other Love Songs. Compressed, brittle, noisy. Great music, though.
Best Rock Albums in 2009, so far
Well that can't be, since Love and Theft was itself (yet) better than Time Out of Mind. But Together is good, huh? is it an all analog affair? I imagine not.
All vandersteen users ?
Not a Vandy owner, and would be interested to read what others have to say. But I have recently moved from smaller to biggger amps, and have been pleased with the relative effortlessness and lack of congestion I seem to hear, at least with less ef...
Building high-end 'tables cheap at Home Despot II
Simple: Jean is on hiatus, so he's not here inspiring queries or quarrels. raves or outrages! Without his prodding, we're probably all just listening to our Lencos instead.
Can I drive Thiel CS 2 2 with a Forte' F 55?
Hi,I went from EIV's (not EII's) to CS2 2's. And I've powered both with higher wattage amps than the Forte, so I can only speculate. I do suspect it may be a challenge. Can't speak for the EII's, but the EIV's were an easier load than the CS2 2's,...
Denon DL-103 -- Was it a mistake?
No I'm not. I think it's constructive to point out when someone is erroneously acting as if he or she has reasons to think there may be something amiss with a product -- especially one as widely admired as the DL103. Just what constructive point i...
Denon DL-103 -- Was it a mistake?
As a matter of psychology, at least some people will take away a negative impression of the DL103 from your reported dissatisfaction with it, despite the disclaimers that you didn't have it set up properly. That's why I think it's borderline irres...
Denon DL-103 -- Was it a mistake?
I wouldn't recommend any cartridge to anyone unless they had a properly matched tonearm. In fact, it's borderline irresponsible to post what mounts to a negative review of a product based on improper use.
Denon DL-103 -- Was it a mistake?
No way a properly set up, sound DL103 is either bright unmusical. Something is amiss. Your impressions are the exact opposite of what the DL103 is known for, and what I've experienced for sure.
How to make sound less detailed with warmth?
Yeah, well my CS2 2's sound great, and not hard, sharp, fatiguing, or any of that. But then, I've heard they are an exception to the tendency among Thiels.
Amp shut down and protection circuit
It does it when not connected to anything at all. Plug in, turn on, protect light flicker, and no power up.
'they blew'em off the stage'
Montejay -- I also witnesses Geils open for Frampton in '77 (in Miami), and yes, they blew Frampton away.
