YAQIN experience, anyone? As I just confirmed, the line level is very quiet. The Yaqin/tubes do very nice things for my Rega Planet CDP. Definitely a more liquid sound than through my other preamp, but not at the cost of definition or drive.
YAQIN experience, anyone? Well, I have one. The design is downright weird in some ways, it is very limited in features, and it isn't exactly silent (though that could be the older telefunkens I put in, and my set-up is in a electromageetic nightmare of a location). But las...
Any Phono Stage that can load 100k, for $300 used? Spectro-acoustics 217. Highly flexible with 2 phono stages. I snapped up a used one for less that $100, but they can go for more. Good stuff!Asking too much, but look here:http://cgi.ebay.com/Spectro-Acoustics-217-Hi-Fi-Preamp...
Mismatched phono stage Right. The Benz high output is made for use with a MM phono stage (though at 2.2mv output it is at the low side of what you can manage with your preamp -- meaning you probably have to turn the volume control up relatively far for any given listeni...
Mismatched phono stage What MC have you been using? If it's a high output MC, then it likely is a fine match with what you have. If it's a low output model, it's a wonder you managed not to realize something was wrong right away, since the output would be so low you'd h...
Tiny head speakers I agree that headphones can be great -- truly involving, revealing, compelling musical. But music moves the body and bones. Loudspeakers can approximate that, but headphones cannot. Compromises everywhere! What to do, what to do . . .
Seeking Warm Towers - under $1500. Some people are bass heads, and would add a sub to anything. Not to say teh Vandy's can't benefit from a sub, but don't go by the fact that some people stick one on.
Headphone amp question Connect it to the tape out of your MF integrated. You'll use the volume control on the Singlepower (nice head amp, by the way) and presumably keep the volume all the way down on the MF.
How to connect phono stage? My spouse and I did an A/B session last night, and the Yaqin straight into the power amp won on both digital and vinyl over the Yaqin >> Spectro-acoustics line >> power amp. Both sounded very good, but the extra amplification stage bri...
How to connect phono stage? Hi Restock,Thanks for the input.I agree that it seems one stage of amplification too much. Well, I think it sounds better through both stages. The Yaqin tubes do vivify the soundstage, bloom the timbres, all of that. This is especially true for CD...
question about the "analog sound" It's hard to say, and I look forward to reading other replies, but it could to an extent be, not analog per se, but vinyl. There are limitations in what can be done to encode deep bass in vinyl grooves -- leading to the use of RIAA (and other) equ...
Speakers for old 70s Marantz receiver? Better say which Marantz, as wattage can matter in matching to speakers.
Will this work, and at what sonic cost? Thanks Joeylawn. I actually knew that much. I'm wondering about the effect of the ss pre's circuitry and/or wire, switches, etc, on the signal from my sources before it gets to the tube pre. If it's basically a source selector and otherwise has th...
Will this work, and at what sonic cost? Well, I was actually looking for a moer technical analysis, as I don't know all that much about what tape outs do to signal.
Are interconnect cables worth $15,000? No -- no how no way. |
