Have you tried "doping" your speaker cones? I gotta think that if this is such a good idea, the speaker manufacturers would have already done it. Of course, what the heck do they know, they only do it for a living...
Maryland,Wash.DC Metro area I will try to make it to the Tyson's event, hope to meet some of you 'Goners there...
Why SACD,DVD-A are already DEAD I agree - especially since HDCDs and XRCDs sound so doggone good - and CHEAP, too - I recently scored 5 HDCDs off the Internet and paid a total of $21 for all 5, delivered to my door!! Sony has a history of fuck-ups, and I'm not about to jump on t...
Maryland,Wash.DC Metro area I'm in Bethesda, MD and would love to get together with some fellow 'Goners. We can hold the first meeting at my place, if you like, then you guys can get a good laugh at my expense [smile]. Call me at (301) 897-8516 (nites) or send e-mail to: ric...
What is your most anal audio habit? I *always* replace the CD in its case perfectly straight with the title at the top - I can always tell if someone else in the family has been playing it. Not that I really care if they do, but I simply MUST straighten it out if I find it skewed. A...
What is the most decadent, most self indulgent-- Albert wins! $7,000 for a turntable stand?? Let's see someone top THAT!
Running 4 ohm speaks on bridged amp...ok? Huh? Bridging the amp doesn't change the speaker's impedance. I would suggest contacting Classe and asking them if the amp can drive a 4 ohm load properly. However, if it's driving them now, it should still do so bridged.
Best Blues Rock recommendations? Danny Gatton - the finest guitar player EVER. Pick up a copy of 88 Elmira St. or Cruisin' Deuces - you will be blown away by his virtuosity, skill, and good taste. Danny, I sure do miss you... I hear he even lets Stevie Ray carry his guitar case f...

35Hz - 25kHz -- A Partial 'Purist'? If you'd like more information about the physics of sound and music check out this website: http://www.glenbrook.k12.il.us/gbssci/phys/Class/sound/soundtoc.html
35Hz - 25kHz -- A Partial 'Purist'? >> ...but I guarantee you'll hear frequencies much lower than your simple formula suggests. <<No, what you are "hearing" is 1/4 and 1/2 wavelengths reflected back upon themselves giving you peaks and valleys as you move thru the room. ...
35Hz - 25kHz -- A Partial 'Purist'? It seems a moot point to me - a 20Hz tone produces a wavelength of 56.5 feet (at sea level, 70 deg. fahrenheit). How many of you have rooms that big?
Racks vs. furniture w/pods, points, aurios, etc? I found a site with some amazing audio racks - www.voicewood.com However, it's a Korean site and they do not respond to my inquiries - do we have any Korean speaking 'Gonners around? Check 'em out, their stuff is beautiful!
Rock albums that sound good on your system? Yeah, it seems the better I make my system, the worse some of my favorite albums sound. However, there are some goodies out there for rock fans:1) Genesis - A Trick of the Tail - sounds great, the bass line at the opening of Squonk will blow you a...
What would you do about a sleazy buyer?? Your problem is that you did not "pre-qualify" your sales prospect. Savvy salesmen do it all the time - make *sure* your prospect has the means to complete the purchase of the product. But how do you do this without running a credit check on every... |
